A Young Testicular Cancer Survivor's Ballsy Mission

In Recognition of Testicular Cancer Awareness Month Cancer Survivor Thomas Cantley in Conjunction with Rockstone Media Group Launch iamballsy.com

2014-04-25
April 25, 2014 (Press-News.org) New York, NY - Thomas Cantley, a 32-year old testicular cancer survivor today announces the official launch of iamballsy.com, a new website dedicated to increasing awareness of male reproductive cancers: testicular, prostate and penile. "I Am Ballsy" aims to make men more aware of their bodies, and encourage them to have open and honest conversations with their healthcare providers, family and friends if something in their body doesn't feel right.

The American Cancer Society reports that half of testicular cancers occur in men ages 20-34, about 1 man in 7 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime and approximately 1,640 new cases of penile cancer will be diagnosed in 2014. While some men might be ashamed of their diagnosis, several notable cancer survivors have been vocal about their experience, including Academy Award winning actor Robert DeNiro, a prostate cancer survivor; actor, singer and activist Harry Belafonte, a prostate cancer survivor; and, actor Tom Green, a testicular cancer survivor. It is men like them who underscore the concept of Cantley's "I Am Ballsy" movement.

Cantley was diagnosed with stage III testicular cancer in 2009 and since then has been educating the public about male reproductive cancers. In 2013, he made national news in Canada when he pushed a 6-foot wide rubber ball over 2,000 miles from Toronto to Vancouver. As news of the walk spread, Thomas was met by thousands of people throughout Canada who expressed their support by signing his ball. Cantley is excited about bringing the "I Am Ballsy" movement to the United States. Fortitude abounding, he is determined to push his ball, and the discussion about male reproductive cancers forward. "I'm committed to shedding light on issues that many men do not talk about," stated Cantley "iamballsy.com is a tool to help with these efforts."

iamballsy.com features more information about Thomas' remarkable story of survival and compelling testimonials from other men who've been affected by male reproductive cancers, such as Nikolaj, Omar and Nick; these are men of all ages, from around the world who have joined the "I Am Ballsy" movement. The website will also allow supporters to follow Thomas by subscribing to the mailing list for updates as he gears up for a national male reproductive cancer awareness campaign across the United States in Summer 2014.
