Local Dermatology Practice to Co-Sponsor Annual Charity Golf Tournament

Southern Tier Dermatology & Aesthetics co-Sponsors YMCA Golf Tourney for 5th Year on Friday, June 8, Traditions,Glen golf course in Johnson City. The tournament aims to raise funds for children & seniors who cannot afford a YMCA membership.

2012-05-17
VESTAL, NY, May 17, 2012 (Press-News.org) Southern Tier Dermatology & Aesthetics is once again looking forward to a fun day on the fairway as they announce their co-sponsorship of the eighth annual YMCA of Broome County Captain & Crew Golf Tournament.

This year's tournament will take place on Friday, June 8 at the Traditions at the Glen golf course in Johnson City. The money raised will assist hundreds of members of the YMCA, from children to older adults, who otherwise could not afford a membership.

Owners Colleen Crandell, D.O., F.A.A.D. and Curt Fenkl, D.O. say they are excited to be involved in helping this great organization again this year, all for a great cause. This will be the doctors' fifth year serving as co-title sponsor.

"We're thrilled to continue this tradition of co-sponsoring and donating to the tournament. We want to help the YMCA make their wellness and social programs available to anyone who wishes to participate. Our involvement with this wonderful event is truly an honor," said Dr. Crandell.

The tournament last year brought in more than $12,000 for the YMCA. The money helps the organization provide quality child care and a variety of recreational activities for members of all ages.

"Without the generous sponsorship and donations of Southern Tier Dermatology & Aesthetics, this event could not have been put on for the past five years," said Gino M. Bucciarelli of the YMCA of Broome County.

"This fundraiser will help ensure that the YMCA can provide exceptional day care, summer camp and swimming lessons for kids, along with social activities for senior citizens to enjoy. These are priceless services," said Dr. Fenkl.

A foursome package is $550 and includes golf for four, lunch and dinner, a player gift bag with a tournament shirt, acknowledgement in the event program and tee sign. An individual package is $100 and comes with golf for one, lunch and dinner, and a gift bag with a tournament shirt.

Registration and lunch begins at 11:30 a.m., and the golfing begins at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. The day will wrap up with dinner, drawings and awards after the golf games end. Around 100 golfers are expected to participate this year.

In 2011, the YMCA of Broome County awarded more than $450,000 in financial assistance to nearly 6,000 children, families and adults in need.

For more information on the tournament and the YMCA of Broome County, contact Gino Bucciarelli at 607-772-0560, ext. 132.
