SEMINYAK, INDONESIA, August 19, 2010 (Press-News.org) The paradise island of Bali will play host to the seventh Asian regional conference of the International Industrial Relations Association (IIRA) towards the end of next month.

Attendees of the event, which runs between September 20th and 23rd 2010, will flock to the Sanur Beach, Bali venue - close to a number of Seminyak hotels - to hear keynote speeches from a number of high-ranking officials.

Indonesian vice president Dr Boediono will be one of the government representatives to speak at the conference, which has been given the theme "Industrial Democracy, Partnership and Decent Work in Responding to Global Financial Crisis".

Among the items up for discussion will be the role of trade unions, entrepreneurs and the government in the democratisation of the workplace, as well as how a productivity-based wage system can help in the response to the economic downturn.

The impact of the recession on industrial relations will also be considered from the perspectives of businesses, workers and the government.

People mulling over attending the show have until September 6th at 17:00 local time to file their interest and pay their registration fees.

These cost $250 (GBP160) for individual IIRA members, $350 for non-members and $100 for students, and include refreshments, lunch and admission.
