SCHAUMBURG, IL, August 22, 2010 (Press-News.org) Grab your lightsaber and join us at the LEGOLAND Discovery Center Chicago for two days of Jabba the Hutt-sized fun as we celebrate LEGO STAR WARS Days on Saturday, Aug. 21 and Sunday, Aug. 22 from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
"STAR WARS, like LEGO , has captured imaginations for decades" said LEGOLAND Discovery Center' s own Master Model Builder, Daniel Morey. "The stories have proven to be timeless and because of that cross-generational appeal, they bring parents and their kids together. It ' s such a natural combination - STAR WARS and LEGO - we' re really excited to be throwing this weekend-long party celebrating both."
The intergalactic weekend includes:
- STAR WARS themed Model Builder Workshops where visitors can build a mini STAR WARS Millennium Falcon specially designed by LEGOLAND Discovery Center's very own Master Model Builder. If you want to take it home, it' s only $1 and all proceeds go to Merlin's Magic Wand.
- An opportunity to assist the Master Model Builder as he constructs an eight-foot model of Yoda
- Life-sized LEGODarth Vader and LEGO R2-D2 models that give guests the best photo opportunity in the galaxy.
- 500 clone trooper and battle droid minifigures that are set for battle in MINILAND , a LEGOLAND Discovery Center exhibit featuring Chicago' s most iconic buildings recreated using LEGO bricks.
- A scavenger hunt to find ten characters hidden throughout MINILAND , providing guests the chance to test their use of the Force, or at least their eyesight, and possibly win one of several limited edition White Boba Fett minifigures that will be distributed as prizes.
- A STAR WARS costume contest rewarding the best dressed attendees, taking place on both Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. One winner from each age group, each day will receive a General Grievous Starfighter Model Set (Age groups are 1-6, 7-12, and 13+).
