GRAND RAPIDS, MI, May 03, 2013
CLC Network, a national non-profit that promotes the development of people with a variety of abilities and disabilities to live as active, integrated members of their communities, will offer six online classes this fall for academically talented, middle school-aged students."Our team believes that a 'one-size-fits-all' approach to education is not an appropriate model for teaching students with differing gifts," shared R.H. "Bear" Berends, executive director of CLC Network. "The introduction of online courses will give families and schools access to challenging, state-of-the-art online curriculum that will engage students at a high level."
Six classes will be available, beginning in September: Honors English 6, Honors English 7, Honors English 8, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry. Each teacher-led class will be delivered asynchronously using a secure learning management system. Teachers will facilitate the classes by preparing units of study, coordinating discussions among students, and providing opportunities for students to work together with their peers.
What are the benefits of CLC Network's online courses?
The Benefits to Schools -
CLC Network's online courses allow schools to broaden their academic offerings without adding costs for staffing and classrooms. In addition, each class complements current classroom opportunities by allowing more highly motivated students to engage in more challenging experiences.
The Benefits to Students -
Students looking to go deeper, wider, faster, and further educationally will have the opportunity to do so with CLC Network's online courses. All classes are academically rigorous and engaging, challenging students at an appropriate level of learning.
The Benefits to Parents -
The online courses are collaborative tools for parents who home educate. The curriculum also allows parents flexibility in determining an appropriate pace and schedule for a child who may be beyond his or her age level.
All courses offered by the CLC Network are fully aligned with State of Michigan content standards and are taught by certified teachers. The classes are available to schools and parents across the nation and are taught from either a Christian or secular perspective.
