Belle Chevre's Chevre de Provence Wins 2014 Cleanest Packaged Food Award from Prevention Magazine

Prevention Magazine has awarded Belle Chevre one of their prestigious Cleanest Packaged Food Awards, recognizing the cheese as all natural, clean, and good for you.

2014-03-18
HUNTSVILLE, AL, March 18, 2014 (Press-News.org) Belle Chevre's Chevre de Provence marinated cheese, one of the creamery's classic chevres, has been awarded the honor of one of Prevention magazine's annual 2014 Cleanest Packaged Food Awards. Among all the packaged foods on the grocery aisles today, the shelf-stable marinated chevre stood out, winning a place in the "LUNCH" category.

Prevention's 2014 "Cleanest Packaged Food Award" winners are featured in the March issue of the publication, on stands now. The full list of 100 winners are also featured online at Prevention.com/Clean2014. Requirements for winning were strict: all winners had to not only be delicious, they had to be GMO and BPA-free, have no more than 10 g of added sugar, and contain no more than 200 mg of sodium.

Prevention Magazine calls it "a decadent treat...their finest cheese medallions in fragrant olive oil and herbs. It's the ideal spread to jazz up a cracker." The Chevre de Provence is artisan goat cheese medallions, marinated in extra virgin and light olive oil with herbs -- it doesn't get any better. The chevre is perfect with crusty bread or crackers, or warmed in the oven for a baked goat cheese salad.

"We are so excited to receive this award the second year in a row" says Tasia Malakasis, president. Belle Chevre's Fig Breakfast Cheese was awarded the honor in 2013. "It's wonderful that one of our classic chevres is recognized the year of our 25th anniversary!" The award can be viewed online: http://www.prevention.com/food/smart-shopping/100-cleanest-packaged-food-awards-2014-lunch?s=3.

Belle Chevre has been recognized and applauded by everyone from the American Cheese Society (for excellence in craftsmanship) and the Good Food Awards (for excellence in sustainability) to the Today Show and Oprah Magazine. With 25 years of cheesemaking experience under their belt, this passionate group of artisans has nearly 100 national awards and is a favorite of the nation's most savvy cheesemongers. Their unique selection of handmade cheeses go far beyond the classic log to include sweet breakfast chevres, cheeses marinated in olive oil and herbs, a chevre cheesecake, and DIY cheese kits.

2014-03-18
Law enforcement agencies often employ the use of canine drug sniffers to detect the presence of illegal narcotics. People in Detroit may see these four-legged officers in action during traffic stops and even at airports. Many dogs are taught to alert officers that there is cocaine, marijuana, heroin or other illegal drugs nearby through a passive act like sitting. Recently, two men from Detroit pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges, according to WSAZ. The men were stopped in Ohio for speeding and their behavior raised the suspicion of officers.
