Automated Dynamics Achieves AS9100 Certification

Certification reaffirms company's commitment to developing technologies for aerospace industry.

2011-01-06
SCHNECTADY, NY, January 06, 2011 (Press-News.org) Automated Dynamics, a leading manufacturer of advanced composite structures and high performance composite processing equipment, announced it has completed registration to AS9100, the standardized quality management system for the aerospace industry. The designation is the result of the company passing stringent audit requirements and evaluations of its manufacturing processes to achieve a standard of quality required in the aerospace industry.

"Becoming AS9100 certified reflects Automated Dynamics' commitment to continuous improvement and marks the culmination of our effort to facilitate advanced aerospace production activities," said Robert J. Langone, president, Automated Dynamics.

Langone noted that Automated Dynamics growth after forming in 1984 was largely attributable to work performed for the aerospace industry and the development of patented automated robotic winding (ROWS) and automated fiber placement (AFP) technologies for manufacturing high-performance, advanced composite structures.

"This certification certainly allows us to strengthen our presence in the aerospace market, but from a broader point of view, the AS9100 certification is about quality management, promoting better business practices and empowering our employees to implement solutions that will make us better today than we were yesterday. Things that will benefit all of our clients--regardless of market."

The industry-wide AS9100 standard was established in 1999 by the Society of Automotive Engineers and the European Association of Aerospace Industries. It is the standard by which thousands of suppliers in the aerospace industry are held. According to Smithers Quality Assessments, an accredited quality and environmental management systems auditor, companies achieving certification report:

- Improved product quality and on-time delivery
- More efficient labor utilization
- Increased customer satisfaction in supplier-customer relationships

Automated Dynamics is also an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Quality Management System and a STR-R registered company.
