"The amount of cash you'll receive depends on the condition of the item, its rarity, and how much demand there is in the marketplace," says Joy Blackburn, who along with being a high fashion expert is a GIA trained gemologist.

While designer handbags and accessories from luxury makers like Chanel and Louis Vuitton are always in-demand items at the ALG boutique, Joy points out that her shop is also the go-to boutique for consigning extraordinary jewels valued into the six figures. For example, ALG currently has on consignment a rare Tiffany & Co. platinum and diamond ring priced at $440,000 which sold originally for $690,500.

"We are one of the few upscale consignment shops in Southern California that has the expertise and clientele to handle such big ticket items," says Joy. "Yet at the same time we carry luxury designer goods that are affordable to most any San Diego fashionista or gift shopper."
