The Olinsky Law Group Announces Disabled Employee Partnerships

A new partnership with Aurora of CNY and the New York State Commission for the Blind (CBVH).

SYRACUSE, NY, May 24, 2012

The Olinsky Law Group is proud to announce a new partnership with Aurora of CNY and the New York State Commission for the Blind (CBVH) in an effort to offer employment opportunities to their clients. This partnership will allow both organizations to better serve individuals who have disabilities living in our community.

The Olinsky Law Group is a national disability law firm, based in Syracuse, NY that focuses on Social Security, Workers' Compensation, Long-Term Disability and Americans with Disability Act Discrimination. Aurora of CNY is a not-for-profit organization promoting independence, opportunity and access for individuals of all ages who are blind, visually impaired, deaf and hard-of-hearing. The NYS Commission for the Blind provides vocational rehabilitation and other direct services to New York State residents who are legally blind, including children, adults and the elderly.

"Partnering with Aurora and NYS Commission for the Blind will allow us to better reach the disabled community in our recruitment efforts. The Olinsky Law Group has made a commitment to assist the disabled community and this partnership is another step in that direction," said Howard Olinsky, firm owner.

Aurora was created in 1991 through the merger of the Syracuse Association of Workers for the Blind and the Central New York Association for the Hearing Impaired. With a 95 year history of helping the blind and visually impaired, Aurora offers numerous services today to adults and children. Some services include social work, employment services, orientation & mobility instruction, vision and hearing rehabilitation, sign language instruction as well as a professional interpreter referral service. The demand for Aurora's services continues to grow across the nation and in our community.

"The entire community benefits through partnerships like this one with Olinsky Law Group and the Commission for the Blind. It combines the resources of the corporate, public and non-profit sectors to enrich us all," said Debra Chaiken, Executive Director of Aurora of CNY, Inc.

The NYS Commission for the Blind was established by law in 1913 to maintain a "census of the blind" in New York and to help individuals who are legally blind find suitable employment. The NYS Commission for the Blind is unique among other states because of its cooperative relationship with private not-for-profit provider agencies.

"Our consumers are breaking down barriers to employment almost daily, it seems. With advances in technology few jobs are unobtainable for individuals who are blind. It is very exciting that organizations like the Olinsky Law Group and Aurora are helping CBVH to get the word out about this major source of untapped talent," said John Scott, district manager of the Syracuse CBVH office.
