Lacking Gadget Insurance of 30-Somethings Threatens Financial Loss

Recent figures, compiled by the UK's largest specialist gadget insurance provider http://uk.protectyourbubble.com/, reveal that gadget owners in their 30's are worryingly neglecting to forearm themselves with insurance safety on essential gadgets.

2012-07-11
BERKSHIRE, ENGLAND, July 11, 2012 (Press-News.org) Recent figures, compiled by the UK's largest specialist gadget insurance provider http://uk.protectyourbubble.com/, reveal that 30 something gadget owners are worryingly neglecting to forearm themselves with insurance safety nets against damages, losses and theft of essential gadgetry like mobile phones, iPhones, iPads and laptops. The fact is that the insurance protection secured by 30-39 year olds significantly trails that of the 20-29 year old category. This highlights an astonishing lack of mobile phone and gadget protection amongst the group to whom affordable iPhone or laptop insurance is equally as critical.

Protect your bubble's figures, compiled from its own customer base in excess of 150,000 customers, reflect that 45% of 20-29 year olds of their customer base have secured specialist financial protection provided by the likes of laptop or mobile phone insurance. However, a mere 20% of their 30-39 year old Protect your bubble gadget insurance policy holders have done likewise. This might result from a broader acknowledgement by 20-29 year olds that potential damages, losses and theft of the gadgets on which they depend pose a very real risk.

"Our analysis shows that people under 35 years old are more than twice as likely to insure their gadgets than those over 35 years old", commented Paul Taylor, Head of Marketing at Protect your bubble. Whilst it is not possible to know exactly why, Paul had the following hypothesis: "Whether people over 35 believe they are not likely to break their phone, or whether they think that their home insurance covers for breakage we are unsure, but they are dangerously exposed to a big bill compared to the younger generation".

The age groups that might be less expected to be covered by gadget insurance are on a surprisingly even keel with 30-39 year olds. A total of 19% of under 20s, 50-59 year olds, and over 60s have taken up mobile phone, iPhone, iPad or laptop insurance policies on a stand alone basis, or as combined gadget insurance policies that cover as many items as required.

Furthermore, a *poll of 501 people aged between 18-64 in 2009 indicated that 50% of Brits have gadgets of a monetary value of up to GBP500 on their persons every time they leave their homes. Protect your bubble suggests that the 30-39 age group, currently not protected by gadget insurance, gives the matter some serious thought. It is not only their mobile phones and laptops that might cost them dearly in unforeseen circumstances. Quotes can be obtained via http://uk.protectyourbubble.com/gadget-insurance/ and they are reminded that the GBP500 estimate is a thoroughly realistic, if not a conservative one, when including gadgets like iPods and MP3 players, games consoles, satnavs, cameras and camcorders, and Bluetooth in the mix. This amount of GBP500 may even be greater in 2012 as we recognise that there is now a greater number of iPhone, smartphone, iPad and tablet owners compared to 2009.

Whether at leisure in pubs and restaurants, or on domestic or overseas business trips, 30-39 year olds without gadget insurance have more than their fair share to lose if they suffer damages, losses, or are targeted by thieves. Consequently, their remissness in terms of securing gadget insurance is a genuine cause for concern.

*Research carried out across 501 consumers aged 18-64 years old. Research undertaken by Aurora Market Research (May 2009).

Wisconsin Law Too Hard on 17-Year-Olds?

2012-07-11
At age 17, you are too young to vote. You also can't buy alcohol or cigarettes, and your access to some common household items -- like over-the-counter medications containing ephedrine and chemicals like benzene -- could be limited. If you are 17 and commit a crime, though, you will face the same consequences as an adult. Why is that important? Because the juvenile justice system focuses on rehabilitation, while the adult criminal justice system emphasizes punishment instead. The different goals of the two justice systems mean that an identical crime could have very ...

Auto Insurance Reform on The Horizon For New Jersey

2012-07-11
Auto insurance is generally intended to provide policy holders with the coverage they need to replace vehicles damaged in an auto accident and cover medical bills if injured in a car crash. These concerns are supported by a recent report from the Property Casualty Insurance Association of America. There is no doubt that working on oil fields, on oil rigs or at oil or natural gas well sites is dangerous work. The most deadly places for oil and gas workers, however, are actually on the roads. Highway crashes are the leading cause of death for oil and gas workers today. Many believe this is due to oil and gas industry exemptions from federal safety rules that prevent fatigued driving. As oil and gas drilling in the U.S. continues to grow, safety advocates are pushing for tougher rules to keep roads safe and prevent fatal truck accidents. Quantifiable Dangers Oil ...

New Texting Law a Challenge to Pennsylvania Law Enforcement

2012-07-11
Police and other law enforcement officers in Pennsylvania are struggling to enforce the new texting while driving ban that went into effect in March. State and local police say that they are responding to the enforcement challenge by formulating a strategy that will minimize their time in court making the charges stick while continuing to enforce what some critics say is a weak law. The reason for the criticisms of the law is that while the law makes texting while driving a primary offense--meaning that a police officer can pull over a person that they observe to be ...

Ashley's Law Could Ease Caps on Damage Awards Against School Districts

2012-07-11
Pennsylvania lawmakers may be ready to correct a wrong and lift an arbitrary damage cap that punished one young woman simply for getting hurt on school grounds. In 2007, Ashley Zauflk was seriously injured when she was run over by an out-of-control school bus while on school grounds in the Pennsbury School District. Zauflick was in a coma for over a month and eventually had to have her left leg amputated above the knee. Despite winning her lawsuit against the school district, Zauflick's award was limited due to an archaic law on Pennsylvania's books that capped damage ...

Record Number of Veterans Applying for VA Disability Benefits

2012-07-11
There can be no doubt that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are having a significant impact on returning veterans. Even though death rates are lower than in previous wars, the fighting isn't any less violent. Today, however, there is better medical care which means that more soldiers are surviving their injuries. But, as a result, more veterans are returning home with service-connected disabilities like wounded or missing limbs and traumatic brain injury. Of course, physical disabilities aren't the only scars of war -- many veterans return home with service-related ...
