SEDONA, AZ, August 19, 2010 (Press-News.org) CPAexcel, a successful global provider of Certified Public Accountant Exam Review Courses, announces the release of a new high definition (HD) video defining changes to the 2011 Uniform Certified Public Accountant Exam (CPA Exam) Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR) section, the longest section of the exam.
Dr. Donald Deis, Jr., a noted author and lecturer, blends into this video both his professional experience as a CPA as well as his academic experience as a professor of accounting. Not only is he an MBA and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE/forensic accountant), he is a distinguished academician who was recruited by Texas A & M University (Corpus Christi) to hold the prestigious Ennis & Virginia Joslin Endowed Chair in Accounting in the College of Business.
In the video, Dr. Deis compares the current content and structure of the CPA Exam to the anticipated changes starting January 1, 2011. Working with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), he observed and analyzed the AICPA's overhaul of the structure, content, and delivery of the CPA Exam—the most comprehensive revision of the exam since 2004.
In 2011, an expanded number of a new format of questions will debut which will allow for more queries on Governmental and Not-for-Profit Accounting. There will be seven Task-Based Simulations (TBS), which are a significantly shorter version of the two 2010 Simulation questions. In 2010, those two Simulations covered the major subjects within FAR. This meant that Governmental and Not-for-Profit accounting content was tested in multiple choice questions, not in simulations.
Since there will be more TBS in 2011, it is likely that Governmental and Not-for-Profit Accounting concepts will be tested on in these new simulations.
In this video, Dr. Deis alerts those accountants who will sit for the FAR section that if they encounter a simulation question on Not-for-Profits, they:
1. should know how to utilize the Financial Accounting Research System (FARS) database to research the question and
2. be aware of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) announcements because those announcements will contain answers to the research questions on the CPA Exam.
You can find this informative HD video by Dr. Deis is on the CPAexcel website or on YouTube.
To help students understand concepts and problems on the 2011 CPA Exam, Dr. Deis is completely updating the content of his study texts and video lectures to reflect the changes to the 2011 CPAexcel CPA Review Course.
Dr. Deis has done an excellent job of educating his CPAexcel students. Since 2004, 87% of Dr. Deis' CPAexcel students have passed the CPA Exam—nearly twice the national average.
By bringing out a new edition of his study tools, Dr. Deis aspires to continue giving his students this competitive edge and to maintain an exceptionally high passing rate.
