SAN DIEGO, CA, December 05, 2012 (Press-News.org) Men considering testosterone therapy in San Diego now have yet another reason to do so. In addition to the many benefits that can be achieved through testosterone treatments, testosterone may also regulate how truthful people are, a new study shows. The results have important implications for ENERGENEX (http://www.energenex.com), a testosterone treatment facility in San Diego.
A recent study from Germany shows that higher testosterone levels may actually lead to an increase in honesty. Testosterone is often blamed for higher levels of aggression or violence among men. However, researchers insist that the popular view of the effects testosterone has on the body are not entirely accurate.
"Maintaining balanced hormone levels is especially important for men as they age," explains Dr. John T. Alexander II, the founding doctor behind Energenex, which provides testosterone therapy for San Diego men. "Unfortunately, testosterone treatments can have a negative stigma, leading some men to question the value of this therapy."
Studies regarding andropause, the hormonal changes men experience as they age, indicate that the popular perception surrounding testosterone levels couldn't be more wrong.
"Most people think of testosterone as the male sex hormone and not too important otherwise," says Dr. Alexander. "In reality, our bodies are made up of complex, interconnected systems and just one imbalance can throw everything off."
During andropause, male hormone levels can decline significantly. Although the primary effects of this are related to libido, men may also experience mood swings, low energy and weight gain when suffering from Low T. The San Diego-based practice of Dr. Alexander developed the Energenex program as a treatment for male hormone imbalance.
"Andropause is similar in some ways to menopause in women. However, there are a few major differences," Dr. Alexander explains. "First, the process of testosterone loss can begin in men as early as the mid-20s. Menopause in women happens later in life. Worse than that, though, is the fact that menopause is a widely recognized health issue for women, while men suffering from andropause are often unaware of the condition."
Through the Energenex program, testosterone treatment is individualized according to each patient's needs and symptoms. More than just taking pills or injections, the program also focuses on diet, nutrition and exercise.
"Our interest is in treating the whole patient and the whole body," says Dr. Alexander. "With such effective treatments available for balancing critical hormones and restoring testosterone levels, there's no reason to let andropause get you down. Although I can't promise anyone that higher testosterone levels will actually increase honesty," he adds with a laugh, "It's certainly another welcome benefit!"
Helping patients increase their quality of life, ENERGENEX (http://www.energenex.com) specializes in breakthrough treatments of hormone irregularities. In particular, the clinic treats human growth hormone (HGH) and Low T at its San Diego office. Established in 1998 by Dr. John T. Alexander II, it was one of California's first anti-aging clinics. In 1999, Dr. Alexander became a Diplomate of the newly formed Board of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine.
