Ventana Research Releases Operational Intelligence Benchmark Research

SAN RAMON, CA, December 05, 2012 (Press-News.org) Ventana Research has released its latest benchmark research on operational intelligence, a category of technology that provides event and real-time based information and metrics for business and IT. The research was conducted to investigate how organizations use real-time operational and event data to make better, faster decisions and respond more effectively to innovate and gain competitive advantage.

With proper use and application, operational intelligence can result in reduced risk, streamlined operations and support actions to be taken and decisions to be made with better context. The research findings indicate that while organizations widely recognize its value (89% indicate it is important or very important), these same organizations struggle to properly apply OI technology to make a positive impact. The research findings also show that the number of organizations collecting and monitoring real-time or near real-time intelligence has increased from 47 percent to 61 percent. Unfortunately, only 18 percent of participants use that intelligence or event data to understand, collaborate and improve their business and operational processes. These findings reveal a complex state of maturity that requires the attention of management to effectively use operational intelligence in both business and IT to ensure the benefits are fully achieved.
