BLOOMFIELD, NJ, February 20, 2013 (Press-News.org) Montgomery Mason, an aspiring writer, forfeits a job at a newspaper and follows his dream of becoming a soldier, in defiance of his mother's wishes. In basic training, he forges a rich tapestry of friendships with Mo, Hunter, and Mako, who hail from such disparate social and spiritual backgrounds their drill sergeant tags them "The Misfits." The genesis of their solidarity is tested once they are deployed to the battle-scarred beaches of the Pacific. Forced to endure the human shuffle of war, these men examine the intangible questions of life and mortality.
Monty falls in love with a nurse, who tends to him after he is wounded in battle. At first light, he is captured by the enemy. Once in his cell, Monty reflects on the madness of war, broken dreams and fading hopes of freedom.
Mo combs the jungle for his buddies and runs into an African-American soldier named Shango. Both men are permeated with suspicions about the other, but as they embark on a heroic mission to liberate their brothers in arms, they realize the senselessness of prejudice and soon discover they share more than just a uniform.
"I would like readers to be engaged by the story and have the raw candor of Monty's journal - the heartbeat of the novel - resonate with their spirits," says author J.D. Winston.
J.D. has written screenplays, yet felt compelled to write the novel God Must Be Weeping. Winston has collaborated with other screenwriters and written several screenplays, two of which have been optioned. J.D. is currently writing the screenplay adaptation for God Must Be Weeping.
