LateRooms.com - Iphigenie auf Taurus Set to Open in Barcelona

Opera lovers should try to catch Iphigenie auf Taurus while they are staying in Barcelona.

2010-08-17
BARCELONA, SPAIN, August 17, 2010 (Press-News.org) A production of Iphigenie auf Taurus will be performed at one of Barcelona's most important art venues later this summer.

Guests at some of the cheap hotels Barcelona has to offer can enjoy Christoph Willibald Gluck's four-act opera at the Gran Teatre del Liceu from September 4th to 7th, with show times varying depending on the day.

This opera and dance performance has been choreographed by Pina Bausch, who has also assumed the role of stage director, as well as being involved with the scenery and costumes alongside Jurgen Dreier.

Conducting the show will be Jan Michael Horstmann.

The piece represents the end of Gluck's Parisian period, which ran from 1773 to 1779, according to the organisers.

"It is considered one of his most perfect and brilliant operas, with a seamless blend of music and drama that makes it extraordinarily expressive," noted the theatre.

First performed in 1779 in Paris, a German version was created two years later, of which this production is an adaptation.

The cost of tickets varies depending on where in the venue people want to sit, with prices going up to EUR164 for the most expensive seats in the house.

Among the other productions being staged at the art space soon is Carmen by Georges Bizet, which will be available to see towards the end of September and the first half of October.

For more information on this event visit the Gran Teatre del Liceu website or contact the venue on +34 93 485 99 00.

History of Universal Waste Containers and the Development of Packages Designed to Contain Mercury Vapor

2010-08-17
Universal waste containers that could be transported by common carrier were first introduced in 1998. The first containers were primarily used to ship fluorescent lighting. Initially, these containers were simple corrugated boxes, with some including a plastic bag inside the box. Since the contents were made of glass, they were designed primarily to contain the contents within the shipping container. However, since mercury begins to vaporize at 70 degrees F, packaging improvements were needed to address the issue of potential mercury vapor release in the event of breakage ...
