Braces use wires and brackets attached to teeth to pull your teeth into place. While this can eliminate bite issues, it can also be extremely painful. Worse still, for adults, the often painful treatment of traditional braces can be compounded by their obtrusive appearance and it can take well over three years to complete treatment.

By contrast, Invisalign aligner trays are clear, making them unnoticeable. Treatment with Invisalign is generally much more comfortable than braces and the treatment period is often less than 18 months.

Removable Aligner Trays

Invisalign aligner trays are removable, providing even more benefits over braces. Because you can remove Invisalign trays, there is no interference with proper oral hygiene. In addition, Invisalign requires no dietary restrictions, allowing you to enjoy a variety of foods.

Every few weeks you will return to your orthodontist's office for a new set of aligner trays. Each new set of trays will gently move your teeth closer to their optimal position. However, for Invisalign to work, you must wear your aligner trays at all times, with the exception of when you are eating or cleaning your teeth. Failure to be consistent in wearing your trays can extend your treatment time or make treatment ineffective.

Due to the level of responsibility required for Invisalign to be effective, this treatment option is best for older teens and adults.
