Ansonia Family Dentistry Group Stresses The Importance Of Pediatric Dentistry

Southern Connecticut Dental Group multi-specialty practice offers pediatric dentistry and helps Ansonia community establish better dental practices.

2014-04-04
ANSONIA, CT, April 04, 2014 (Press-News.org) Dentists are responsible for helping patients develop better oral health habits. At regular dental visits, patients typically leave the office with a toothbrush, floss and advice for customized at-home dental care. For children, annual dental appointments are essential.

"A child's regular dental visits are important, very important. A dentist office offers preventative care for all ages, but we believe early intervention and education is key to a child growing up with better oral health practices. That's why we put so much stress on dental appointments for the entire family," explains Dr. Lerman, Ansonia dentist.

A family that brushes together fights cavities together. A positive example will effect how a child views oral hygiene. For example, if a child observes his/her family's bad oral hygiene practices, he/she will most likely do the same as family members, avoiding the toothbrush and floss. If early education is provided, the likeability of a child taking care of his/her teeth and gums can increase.

At Southern Connecticut Dental Group, the dentists speak more than words. They can show children how to properly clean teeth and gums. Plus, Southern Connecticut Dental Group has a pediatric dentist on-site to handle annual exams and cleanings, dental injuries, cavities and fluoride treatment.

Even if a child properly cleans his/her teeth and gums, the risk of cavities is still present, which is why dental visits will always be important. Due to an increased risk of tooth decay, poor oral hygiene and unusual growth patterns, a child may need to see a pediatric dentist more often than twice a year

To schedule an appointment with Southern Connecticut Dental Group's family dentistry, Ansonia residents can call (203) 264-4351. Go to www.southernctdental.com for more oral health resources, list of services and door-to-door directions.
