iPhone Insurance Provider Reminds Business Users Value of Insurance

Smartphones are obviously a big part of people's home and professional life - especially so the businessman who has both an iPhone and BlackBerry! - so being without it could potentially have a huge impact.

2011-02-02
WINDSOR, ENGLAND, February 02, 2011 (Press-News.org) New research* from iPhone insurance (http://www.protectyourbubble.com/business-insurance-for-mobiles-lapto ... dgets.html) specialist Protect your bubble has revealed that 93% of people use their smartphone for business, flagging up just how invaluable these gadgets are becoming and highlighting just how important it may be to have iPhone insurance.

The study also showed that surprisingly, although the iPhone is often portrayed in the media as the must-have phone, 24% of those who said they do use their smartphone for business use an iPhone. This is compared to 47% who say they are BlackBerry users.

Further interesting statistics show that:
- 29% of respondents use other smartphones such as the HTC or Google Android;
- 7% of business people say they do not have or do not want to use a smartphone for business. These are also all males;
- BlackBerry users were equally split among the age groups 25-34 and 35-54, with just 10% being in the 55+ age group;
- there are no BlackBerry users in the 18-24 age band;
- iPhone users featured in all age groups, with the most prolific users (55%) being in the 25-34 age bracket;
- one respondent admitted that he used both a Blackberry and an iPhone 3 for business!

Commenting on the study, Stephen Ebbett from Protect your bubble says: "Smartphones are obviously a big part of people's home and professional life - especially so the businessman who has both an iPhone and BlackBerry! - so being without it could potentially have a huge impact.

"With people often using their smartphone as a work tool, losing it or damaging it no longer just means having to rebuild an Address Book - it could mean the loss of important work-related data as well as personal data, impinging on all areas of their life.

"Ensuring that not only do they have some form of data back up in place, but iPhone insurance too, will give people real all-round protection against the unknown."

He adds that mobile phones are vulnerable to loss, damage and theft, adding that in 2010, 20% of Protect your bubble mobile phone insurance holders made a claim, with almost half of these claims (45%) being for accidental damage.

Mr. Ebbett summarises: "Protect your bubble iPhone insurance not only covers smartphone against hazards such as theft, breakdown, accidental damage, and optional loss, but free data back up is also available, too. This means that people won't lose all their important data should something happen to their phone. Plus, with a phone guaranteed to be replaced within 48 hours of a successful claim, their work and personal life won't have to be put on hold for too long!"

Other than iPhone insurance packages, Protect your bubble also offers gadget insurance on cameras, camcorders, notebooks, Blackberry devices, iPods, iPads mobile phones, game consoles, MP3 players, PC's, PDA's, Macbooks and satnavs from GBP1.49 a month

NTSB Asking States to Take Up Mandatory Helmet Laws

2011-02-02
In 2009, over 4,400 motorcyclists were killed in traffic accidents according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA). That number represents a 16 percent reduction from the previous year when over 5,300 riders died on U.S. roads. Some of that reduction can be attributed to an increase in motorcycle helmet use. Statistics from the NHTSA note that in 2009, 67 percent of all motorcycle riders were regularly wearing helmets in 2009, up from 48 percent in 2005. But despite the recent decline in motorcycle deaths, the number of motorcycle traffic fatalities ...

Proposed Commercial Driver Cell Phone Regulation Could Increase Safety

2011-02-02
On September 27th, 2010, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) issued a new rule prohibiting drivers of commercial motor vehicles from texting while driving. Now, the FMCSA has announced a proposed new rule that would ban these same drivers from other uses of a mobile phone -- specifically reaching for, holding or dialing -- while driving. The regulation would make the roads safer for all drivers, and establish an important standard that courts would look to in determining negligence in accidents. A period for comment on the new rule is now open, and ...

Minnesota Court Decision Leaves Construction Company Unpaid for Completed Work

2011-02-02
A recent decision from the Minnesota Court of Appeals has held that a construction company may not receive full payment from a city for the company's work on a completed construction project. The dispute arose out of a failed residential subdivision project, a scenario likely to be repeated in the wake of the housing boom and bust. The decision therefore may have important implications for construction law and commercial real estate. 2011-02-02
Because they weigh up to 80,000 pounds, when tractor trailers and other heavy trucks are involved in accidents, the consequences are likely to be serious. Any actions that help to reduce the number of truck accidents will help improve the overall safety of the roads and reduce the frequency of serious injuries. In an effort to reduce truck accidents, federal regulations have required all newly manufactured semi-trailers and trucks to have Antilock Braking Systems (ABS) since 1998. However, it was not clear how effective this requirement had been in reducing truck accidents ...

Safety Concerns of Government Planes and Helicopters

2011-02-02
Most would think government aircraft are some of the safest in the country. As it turns out, this is likely not the case. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which regulates airlines, lacks the authority to regulate the safety of aircraft operated by state and local governments or other federal agencies. The NTSB chairman, Deborah Hersman, said such aircraft are safety "orphans" with no body responsible for their safety. Tragic Accident The NTSB made its stunning finding after recently completing its investigation ...
