California's Independent Grocers Honoring Industry Leaders at Installation Banquet

California Independent Grocers Association (CIGA) will be holding its Installation Banquet on Thursday, April 14th at Spataro Restaurant & Bar in Sacramento, California.

SACRAMENTO, CA, March 16, 2011 (Press-News.org) California Independent Grocers Association (CIGA) will be holding its Installation Banquet on Thursday, April 14th at Spataro Restaurant & Bar in Sacramento, California to recognize and thank the Board of Directors for their leadership and dedication to the industry.

Honored will be Louis Young, Payless Markets, Lockeford, California for completing his term as Chairman of the Board. Mr. Young will welcome incoming Chairman of the Board Bob Parriott, Twain Harte Market in Twain Harte, California.

CIGA will also be presenting the 2010 Retailer of the Year and Associate Member of the Year Awards to members chosen for their commitment, leadership, and dedication to the independent grocery industry, and for their own community involvement. Ed Stokes, Diablo Foods in Lafayette, California, is CIGA's 2010 Retailer of the Year. Diablo Foods has been an important part of its community since opening its doors in 1968.

CIGA's 2010 Associate Member of the Year is Karl Berger, Tony's Fine Foods, West Sacramento, California. Tony's Fine Foods is a long time CIGA member and has been providing its customers with top-quality services and products for over 75 years.

"California's independent grocers are a flourishing group," says CIGA's Executive Director Sharon Paxton, "the Installation Banquet is CIGA's opportunity to recognize industry leaders and to thank and acknowledge our Board of Directors who govern our direction in the years ahead."

Headquartered in Sacramento, California, CIGA continues to represent the Independent Retail Food Industry since the late 1800s. Today, more than 800 independent grocers and supplier companies make up its membership. CIGA's vision is to be the best possible association by promoting, supporting, educating, protecting, and fulfilling the needs of the independent grocer.
