From the wild to the wonderful: annual exhibition of Scottish art at the Red Rag Gallery, Stow on the Wold, UK (from Sunday, 10 July 2011).

The highly regarded, annual celebration of contemporary Scottish art at the Red Rag Gallery in Stow on the Wold, Gloucestershire opens on Sunday, 10 July 2011 and runs throughout the summer.

GLOUCESTERSHIRE, ENGLAND, June 28, 2011

This colourful show will give an up to date insight into the vibrant, contemporary Scottish art scene. Contributors span several generations of contemporary artists with Scottish roots or who have emerged through the Scottish art colleges, imbued with the fine traditions of Scottish art.

This varied and engaging show will, as ever, include a range of styles, media and subjects - 'from the wild to the wonderful' -

From the expansive landscapes and seascapes of Robert Kelsey to the more intimate landscapes of Lynn Rodgie, the townscapes of Stephanie Dees and the colourful impressionism of Tom Watts; from the carefully composed portraits of Denise Findlay and carefree impressionistic figure painting of Damian Callan to the stylised figures of Ian McWhinnie and the humorous characters of Joe Hargan; and from the abstract, still life of Simon Laurie to the imaginative fantasies of David Schofield

- a veritable feast of contemporary Scottish art.

Other contributors are Margaretann Bennett, Frank Colclough, Ian Elliot, Mike Healey, Alan King, Jock McInnes, Archie Dunbar McIntosh and Sophie McKay-Knight.

Red Rag Gallery Manager, Carole Teagle, said, '...we are always especially pleased to host this annual show, a festival of contemporary Scottish art, the largest single show in our calendar of events. It always delights and surprises; and this year we have a strong list of well known and emerging Scottish artists who are continuing this fine tradition!"

All the artists represented in this show have exhibited widely; many have won awards and other forms of recognition for their contribution to the Scottish and wider art world; and their work is held in private and public collections in the UK and elsewhere.

The show runs from Sunday, 10 July 2011 to Sunday 21 August 2011.
