The SSDI Process Following Workplace Injury

The federal government, under the Social Security Administration, provides benefits for disabled Americans under the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program.

2010-10-02
ATLANTA, GA, October 02, 2010 (Press-News.org) If you or a loved one has been injured in the workplace, you probably already know that the process of receiving compensation for medical care and lost wages is often difficult and complex. You may even need the services of an experienced Workers' Compensation lawyer to secure benefits under Workers' Compensation law.

If your workplace injury or illness results in disability that prevents you from working, it can be even more complicated. The federal government, under the Social Security Administration, provides benefits for disabled Americans under the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program. However, the application process for SSDI benefits is extremely complex and requires extensive documentation and only about 10% of applicants are approved on the first try.

Applying for SSDI Benefits
Because of the need to prevent fraudulent disability claims, SSDI applicants must provide thorough medical documentation to prove that they meet each of the requirements for disability benefits. Unfortunately, this often means that legitimate claims are denied because of insufficient evidence. To receive SSDI benefits, you must prove that:

- You have a mental or physical condition that prevents you from engaging in "substantial gainful activity."
- Your condition is severe and expected to last at least a year or cause death.
- You are no longer able to perform work you previously did.
- You are unable to find any other work in the economy with your condition.

Needless to say, it is very difficult for an individual alone to prove each and every one of these qualifications, especially without detailed knowledge of the SSDI system. Because most people are denied on their initial application for SSDI benefits, many who are unable to work become discouraged and worry that they may never get the financial help they need.

Hiring a Social Security Disability Lawyer
If you have been injured or become ill on the job and are no longer able to work, you may find it extremely helpful to hire an Atlanta Social Security disability lawyer. Social Security disability lawyers know the ins and outs of the SSDI bureaucracy as well as all the documentation you will need for a successful SSDI claim. If your initial claim is denied, a Social Security disability attorney can help you appeal the denial and get it overturned.

Do not give up if your application for SSDI benefits is not approved on the first try. This is very common, even for legitimately qualifying individuals. It is not too late to seek legal guidance from a Social Security Disability lawyer.

If you or a loved one is seeking SSDI benefits following a workplace injury or illness in Georgia, please visit the Atlanta Social Security disability lawyers of Robbins & Associates, P.C. online at www.robbinslaw.com to schedule a consultation.

Questions about CEREC

2010-10-02
CEREC is a CAD/CAM system that uses computer imaging to create a porcelain dental restoration right in your dentist's office. To understand the benefit of this, think back to the last time you had a dental crown made and the dental assistant made you open wide so she could put a metal tray filled rubbery material in your mouth then press it down against your teeth to make an impression. After the impression was made, you probably had an ill-fitting temporary crown placed which many times was sensitive to temperature. Then you had to wait two weeks or even longer for a dental ...

Invisalign vs. Traditional Orthodontics

2010-10-02
If you had braces when you were younger, or if you remember your friends having braces, you may be letting your smile suffer from tooth misalignments in order to avoid the stigma of having "metal mouth." While some dentists may tell you that traditional braces are necessary to permanently straighten any dental misalignment, the truth is that many orthodontists are now offering Invisalign to their adult patients. The Metal Myth While it is true that some patients with very complex misalignment cases would benefit from the use of braces, most patients do not have complicated ...

Like most parents, you probably know that you should encourage your children to brush their teeth twice a day and avoid eating and drinking sugary foods too frequently. You may already know that periodontics is the treatment and care of your gums, but did you know it also addresses what happens below your gum line? CAD/CAM Dentistry

2010-10-02
If you are an engineer you are probably familiar with the term CAD/CAM. But most of us are not only unfamiliar with the term, but unaware of how CAD/CAM technology is changing the face of dentistry and helping us all smile a little sooner. CAD/CAM stands for Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing and has been used extensively in many manufacturing and engineering fields.
