LAUDERDALE, FL, July 25, 2012 (Press-News.org) Author Bob Miller releases his latest book on July 25. Titled Abyss of Consequences, the book contains chapters on many well-known personalities. Miller's perceptive, no-holds-barred and often-controversial writing will evoke a range of emotions in the reader: empathy, disdain, horror, amusement, appreciation, awe and fascination among others, depending on the subject of each chapter. Miller's writing is well researched and persuasive, while leaving the reader in no doubt as to the author's opinions. Readers will be just as intrigued by the characters Miller clearly dislikes as they will by those he admires. One of the personalities for whom he shows great admiration is Dana Reeve.
"I was awarded the Distinguished Fly Cross for my services in Vietnam," writes Bob Miller at the end of his chapter on Dana Reeve. "The citation reads, 'Distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions', compared to the late Mrs. Dana Reeve, I am an appalling example."
One reviewer described Abyss of Consequences as a "multicultural book (that) is perfect for our multicultural world (with) fast-moving, well-organized critiques of some of the most significant personalities."
This is indeed a multicultural book and the range of personalities and subjects covered is considerable. Miller's writing engages the reader from the opening paragraphs; they may well find that Miller challenges their political views but they will certainly not find him boring!
Miller is a Vietnam War veteran with a distinguished military background, having served in both the US Air Force (Strategic Air Command) and the US Army where he served in Vietnam in the 192nd Assault Helicopter Company. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and an Air Medal. Social media tags him as a curmudgeon, cynic, rebel, misanthrope and homegrown terrorist.
Abyss of Consequences is Miller's seventh book and will be available on Amazon.com and at Barnes and Noble and other fine bookstores, priced at $12.99.

Printed photonic crystal mirrors shrink on-chip lasers down to size
2012-07-24
MADISON – Electrical engineers at The University of Texas at Arlington and at the University of Wisconsin-Madison have devised a new laser for on-chip optical connections that could give computers a huge boost in speed and energy efficiency.
The team published its findings on July 22, 2012 in Nature Photonics.
At just 2 micrometers in height – smaller than the width of a human hair – the surface-emitting laser's vastly lower profile could make it cheaper and easier for manufacturers to integrate high-speed optical data connections into the microprocessors powering the ...
Study offers new clue on how brain processes visual information
2012-07-24
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – July 23, 2012 – Ever wonder how the human brain, which is constantly bombarded with millions of pieces of visual information, can filter out what's unimportant and focus on what's most useful?
The process is known as selective attention and scientists have long debated how it works. But now, researchers at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center have discovered an important clue. Evidence from an animal study, published in the July 22 online edition of the journal Nature Neuroscience, shows that the prefrontal cortex is involved in a previously unknown ...
