LANCASHIRE, ENGLAND, August 10, 2012 (Press-News.org) Thomas Cook Tours, the original tour expert since 1841, is offering a discount on a 14 day escorted tour of Costa Rica, departing London on the 17th of October 2012.

Over a period of two weeks, tour members will be transported to a selection of Costa Rica's most popular scenic and cultural destinations.

Tour members will be collected at their residences or hotels in the United Kingdom and transported to London Heathrow airport for the flight to San Jose via Madrid.

The tour will start with a visit to a coffee plantation in San Jose with samplings of some of the world's finest coffee.

After an overnight stay in San Jose the tour will proceed into the humid, jungle-draped interior of Costa Rica. Highlights of this journey include:

- a trip by boat through a maze of canals and lagoons to the remote Tortuguero National Park, home to a variety of wildlife including monkeys, manatees and endangered sea turtles

- the plains of San Carlos, where the Arenal Volcano stands sentinel in the surrounding landscape

- the beach-side town of Tamarindo, where tour members may relax on the beach, play a round of golf or visit the Tamarindo Wildlife Refuge on a game-watching boat tour

- the Tilaran Mountains, which are fringed with the dense vegetation of the tropical Cloud Forest - a sanctuary for a variety of exotic rainforest species

- Herradura Bay, which provides a perfect setting to relax and enjoy the final days of the tour at the Los Suenos Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort
