King Ice Holds Cypher Contest for Sponsorship

The hip hop jewelry retailer holds a rap contest to coincide with the release of their first cypher video.

ROSEMEAD, CA, August 12, 2012 (Press-News.org) King Ice, an online retailer of hip hop bling, is holding a contest where hip hop artists compete to be included on the company's cypher. In hip hop a cypher is when multiple artists recite pre-written verses or freestyle over a continuous beat. The King Ice cypher features artists from Team King Ice, a group of emerging hip hop artists sponsored by the company. The first King Ice cypher includes verses from Ex-Cell, Yung Rob, Reeves, Syko Solja, & L. Rucus. Participants are required to follow a few rules to enter the contest.

King Ice has provided an informational page accessible from their contests page. To enter the cypher contest participants must use a specific beat produced by Twan Beatmaker. The beat can be downloaded directly from the details page. Participants are allowed to rap about any topic of their choice however, the company name must be mentioned at least once. Artists are then required to upload their track to YouTube. To submit their entries, participants utilize a custom contest page on King Ice's Facebook page.

In September entries will be reviewed by a panel of King Ice Team members. Two entries will move on in the contest for a chance to win a King Ice prize package. Winners will have their verse included on the next King Ice cypher. Winning tracks will be promoted on KingIce.com and the company's extensive social network. Most importantly, winners will be sponsored by the jewelry retailer. Sponsored artists receive quarterly gifts which include free apparel, jewelry, promotion and more. King Ice sponsorship is a sought after reward that can only be acquired by winning a King Ice rap contest.

King Ice hopes the cypher will gain some exposure for sponsored artists trying to make it big in the industry.

"A cypher gives our sponsored rappers a chance to highlight their skills," said Derek of King Ice. "Thousands of people were able to see the video on World Star Hip Hop which for some of these rappers, is the most views they've ever gotten. The cypher contest has already produced some excellent new artists. We're excited to see what else participants produce."
