SALT LAKE CITY, UT, September 04, 2012
In the Dominican Republic, hundreds of children look forward to visits from the Smiles for Life dentists. In a country that struggles with income inequality and severe poverty, humanitarian efforts do not go unnoticed. For the past six years, over 400 Crown Council dentists have donated their time and resources as part of the Smiles for Life Campaign to effect powerful change in the lives of local families.Children who have damaged or missing teeth are able to have both the function and appearance of their smiles transformed for free. The effect this charity has on these children's self-esteem is immeasurable. This humanitarian effort in the Dominican Republic is just one of the hundreds of children's charities that benefit from the Smiles for Life Foundation.
Each year, over a thousand Crown Council dentists raise money over a four-month period by whitening patients' teeth at a greatly discounted rate and then donating 100% of the proceeds to the Smiles for Life campaign. Philips Oral Healthcare, a Division of Royal Philips Electronics that produces Zoom! Teeth Whitening and BriteSmile trays, generously donates all of the teeth whitening supplies, and has contributed over $1 million in whitening materials since the Smiles for Life Foundation began in 1998.
The partnership of the Crown Council and Philips Oral Healthcare has created an immense resource for assisting children in need on a worldwide level. Since the creation of the Smiles For Life Foundation, over $31 million has been raised and donated to worthy charities that benefit seriously ill, disabled or disadvantaged kids. The Crown Council is pleased to announce another remarkable campaign for the Smiles For Life Foundation, which raised $1,303,605.79 for underprivileged children this year.
"Smiles For Life is a big win for everyone involved," explains Greg Anderson, director of the Crown Council and co-founder of Smiles For Life. "Patients enjoy a brighter smile at a discounted price, our member dentists feel the satisfaction of giving back to their community, and, best of all, children in need find their lives are a little better and brighter."
