TechniTrader Industry Report: Cloud Computing... by Martha Stokes C.M.T.

2010-10-10
AUBURN, WA, October 10, 2010 (Press-News.org) Cloud computing is the fastest growing new technology in the software industry at this time with new companies emerging as fast as new application companies did during the early 1990s. This new technology is a much needed boost for the stagnant software industry.

The software industry rose during the boom years between 1985 -2000 when technology for PC computers, software, electronics, and the Internet surged in popularity. The collapse that followed caused most software companies to plummet in value then slowly recover. The 2008 financial crisis saw another drop in stock values that have recovered almost back to the level these stocks had prior to the banking debacle. But still this industry is far from its prior heights.

The software industry remained in slow growth due to a lack of new inventive, innovative ways to use and create software.

But with the advent of Cloud Computing a revolution in software technology is underway and growing exponentially even during a recession.

This new approach to software technology is reviving and reinventing older software companies as well as providing a new opportunity for highly creative, imaginative, and inventive new entrepreneurs.

Cloud computing is essentially software that is accessible and maintainable via the Internet. Instead of buying a software program on CD at your local Office Depot, you simply log onto your computer using the software remotely.

Gone are the days of loading software onto your personal or business computer via a CD or an Internet download. Gone are the days of a huge staff of IT personnel to maintain corporate software programs.

Cloud computing makes sense in a world that is ever increasingly mobile and portable. It makes sense with so many people using various types of computers, palm and smart phone devices for their day to day business activity.

2010-10-10

Some workers helping clean up the oil or distribute toxic oil dispersants became sick immediately, while others felt the effects only upon their return to their homes. Exposure to Toxins In May, the Environmental Protection Agency told BP to stop using a dispersant considered too toxic. "Dispersants have been used in much greater volume than ever," Jane Lubchenco, administrator for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration told ...

Dog Bite Law in Texas

2010-10-10
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 4.5 million Americans suffer from dog bite injuries every year. One in five of these bites cause injuries that require medical attention. Unfortunately, Texas has experienced a high number of fatalities resulting from dog bites in recent years. In response, the Texas Legislature changed Texas dog bite law, but the current law still does not adequately help victims or prevent future dog bites and animal attacks. Texas Dog Bite Law In the past, Texas dog owners were essentially allowed "one free bite" ...

New Federal Trucking Regulation Enforcement Program Moving Ahead

2010-10-10
CSA 2010, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's new enforcement and compliance program, has been implemented in nine pilot states and will soon be rolled out nationwide. The program, which fundamentally changes the requirements for safety compliance reporting by trucking companies, is intended to increase highway safety for truckers as well as the millions of motorists who share the road with them. Truck drivers, bus drivers and other commercial vehicle operators are subject to a wide range of federal regulations that do not affect other drivers. A major ...

"Grey Divorce" a Growing Trend

2010-10-10
Going through a divorce is a life-changing experience. Starting over is never easy, especially for couples who have spent decades together. However, recent trends nationwide have shown an increase in baby boomer divorce rates. The US Census Bureau reports that one-fourth of all divorces that occurred in 2008 were by parties married 20 years or longer. Why are so many boomers deciding that enough is enough? A lot of couples simply fall out of love. People just grow apart over time, and decide that they no longer have anything in common. When children move away or go ...

Work Injury? Workers' Comp May Not be the Only Answer

2010-10-10
According to the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI), preliminary totals show the number of fatal work accidents recorded in the United States was the lowest since 1992. Nevertheless, there were 4,340 fatal work injuries and the final count in April 2011 is expected to increase that figure by about three percent. The New York Times reports that Bill Kojola, an expert in the A.F.L.-C.I.O.'s occupational safety department, expressed skepticism in the results, saying, "I would not trust these numbers at the present time. It seemed that the state partners that report ...

Loan Modification Offers False Hope to Many Struggling Families

2010-10-10
Families in danger of foreclosure are seeking modifications of their loan terms in record numbers. It seems like a great solution to a difficult issue, and they reason that a modification will allow them to make their payments regularly and not fall too far behind. They may figure that since they are still paying down the mortgage that paying a lesser amount for a short time will have no consequences. Unfortunately, they are wrong. People seeking loan modifications often face similar credit history damage to those whose homes end up in foreclosure or short sold. Loan ...

Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy: Continuous Pain After an Accident

2010-10-10
Little is known or understood about Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) -- also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD). The Collateral Consequences of Drunk Driving

2010-10-10
Frankie Hammond Jr, a sophomore at the University of Florida, seemed to have a bright future in Florida football, at least until his arrest for driving under the influence. As punishment, University of Florida coach Urban Meyer pulled Hammond's scholarship, and Hammond was immediately suspended from all team activities. He will be allowed to come back and play, but now he'll have to pay his own way and earn a spot on the team. Like other players who have made mistakes, Hammond will be on probation, and will likely be dismissed if he gets into trouble again. The classic ...
