NewGround PR & Marketing Principal Chosen to Lead ULI Residential Neighborhood Development Council

Carol Ruiz selected as chair, says council focus will be looking ahead to the new economy as it impacts the real estate industry

2012-12-01
MARINA DEL REY, CA, December 01, 2012 (Press-News.org) Carol Ruiz, principal of Los Angeles-based New Ground PR & Marketing, was appointed chair of the Residential Neighborhood Development Gold Council (RNDC-Gold) of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) at the Institute's recent Fall Meeting in Denver, Colorado.

As chair of the council, Ruiz is responsible for determining the council's topical focus for the year, setting the agenda for the council's twice-yearly meetings, and leading the council meetings. In addition, she will represent the council at other ULI leadership programs and events.

"I am honored to be chosen to lead such an esteemed group of individuals involved in the residential development industry," Ruiz said. "In the coming year, I am looking forward to exploring issues that are top of mind with these industry thought leaders as we head into a new economy and real estate cycle."

RNDC-Gold is one of 49 Product Councils at ULI. Membership in Product Councils is restricted to ULI full members, and is a highly sought-after distinction. The Product Councils are places where leaders in the land use industry can network with and learn from each other, and the share best practices in their area of expertise. Council members have the opportunity to speak at ULI events, serve as panel members for the Institute's Advisory Services Panels, contribute articles and papers to ULI publications, and participate on other Institute committees and task forces.

In addition to her involvement with ULI, Ruiz is an active member of the Building Industry Association (BIA), National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), National Sales and Marketing Council (NSMC). She holds a variety of leadership positions, serving as chair of Sales & Marketing Ideas magazine's editorial advisory group and on the board of trustees of the NSMC. Some of her clients have included former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Henry Cisneros and his company CityView; The Planning Center, MBK Real Estate, the US real estate development arm of Mitsui & Co, Ltd.; Gatehouse Capital (developer of the W Hotel and Residences on Hollywood and Vine); and Boral USA, one of the largest manufacturers of exterior building products.
