Nursing home abuse is a real problem in our country with millions of new cases reported every year. Preventing Nursing Home Abuse

This will enable you to see what your loved one's living conditions are like throughout the day and give you an opportunity to get to know their caregivers. During these visits make sure you listen to your loved one and pay attention to how they feel they are being cared for.

It is equally important that you know how to identify nursing home abuse. Signs that your loved one is being mistreated may include:

- Unexplained injuries
- Bedsores
- Malnutrition or dehydration
- Over or under medication
- Changes in behavior
- Fear or discomfort around nursing home staff
