As a provider of whole-home water filtration systems in the Ontario region, GreenLife Water believes it is essential for Canadian residents to understand the national state of water usage. A new survey, highlighted in a recent CTV News article, details the overall attitudes regarding water usage in Canada. According to the article, "Canadians are largely unaware of the strain placed on municipal water infrastructures across the country and reluctant to pitch in to ease the burden." GreenLife Water urges the Canadian public to take note of water infrastructure dangers and to act more responsibly to help resolve the problem. While the survey, commissioned by the Royal Bank of Canada, highlights many areas of water use attitudes in the country, according to GreenLife Water, it is most disturbing that many citizens are unaware about the state of their municipal water facilities and resources. In the article, Bob Sandford, chairman of the Canadian Partnership Initiative of the United Nations Water for Life Decade, explains that many Canadians are unaware of the subtle changes necessary to maintain or improve the infrastructure of water systems. Sandford states, "In many communities infrastructure is underfunded and the systems are 80 years old in some cases. They're causing a multitude of issues not immediately associated in the minds of Canadians with water quality and supply."
Urban development in combination with weather conditions is noted to have caused a strain on the existing systems, which has left many wondering how safe water is if the country is unable to address such problems. The article notes, "According to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, the total price tag to bring Canada's water infrastructures up to scratch hovers around $80 billion."
GreenLife Water responds in a recent press statement, "The high price of repairing and maintaining water infrastructure is one that urges the Canadian public to take responsibility for its actions. Homeowners and residents need to do what they can to help raise awareness about water usage in the country, but should also take action to protect their own water supplies."
GreenLife Water adds in its statement, "While repairs may be down the road, homeowners should realize the importance of getting cleaner water sooner. With so many infrastructures compromised, the advantage of whole-home water filtration systems becomes clearer."
