BÖWE BELL + HOWELL Installs Seventh MAILStream Inveloper at Single Customer Site

Systems Delivering Exponential Increases in Productivity over Traditional Inserters

2010-08-13
DURHAM, NC, August 13, 2010 (Press-News.org) BÖWE BELL + HOWELL (BBH) today announced the installation of a seventh BBH MAILStream Inveloper at a large production mailer. The customer cites the impressive productivity gains and dramatic reduction in costs and waste as critical factors that led to the decision to add the new system. The MAILStream Inveloper creates its own "Invelope " mailpieces from roll material that are inkjet printed in-line with the machine, thus eliminating the need for separate mailing envelopes or off-line printing processes.

"The MAILStream Inveloper is generating a lot of interest as mailers continue to seek ways to reduce costs and improve efficiency," said Mark Van Gorp, BBH vice president of business development and marketing. "Not only do these systems run at very high speeds, they enable dynamic personalization of the entire mailpiece, which improves customer response rates."

The customer noted that of the 98 inserting systems currently in place on their production floor, the six MAILStream Invelopers produce 25 percent of the output, and deliver a cost-per-mailpiece reduction of up to 40 percent.

The system runs at up to 30,000 mailpieces per hour in a seamless and efficient mailstream with minimal interruptions, utilizing rolls of either blank white material for closed-face addressing or windowed material for open-faced addressing to create the invelope. Digital in-line printing enables personalized messaging both on the interior and exterior of the mailpiece. Optional inserts are enclosed by the roll material rather than inserted into an envelope. The process behind the MAILStream Inveloper also helps production mailers move closer toward realizing their environmental impact goals by eliminating handling, storage and waste associated with traditional envelopes.

"We're committed to helping our customers succeed, and innovations like the MAILStream Inveloper provide a great option for First-Class or Standard mailers," added Van Gorp. "As the market continues to evolve, we will also continue to develop new solutions that enable greater efficiencies with proven return on investment."
