Amazing Kids! Announces 2nd Annual Launch My Dream! Contest Winners: Thalia Bernard, 6, and Remmi Smith, 10, to get help launching their dreams "Hope for Haiti's Children" and "Healthy Kids"

The winners will receive help in launching their dreams from Amazing Kids! and their own personal "Dream Teams."

2010-08-13
SEATTLE, WA, August 13, 2010 (Press-News.org) Amazing Kids! (amazing-kids.org) has announced the winners of the 2nd Annual Amazing Kids!' Launch My Dream! T-Shirt Design and Essay Contest. The winners, 6 year-old Thalia Bernard and 10 year-old Remmi Smith, will receive help in launching their dreams from Amazing Kids! and their own personal "Dream Teams." Their teams will consist of collaboration partners and individuals who want to lend their support for the girls' dreams to help other kids, each in their own way.

6-year-old Thalia Bernard's dream was inspired by the startling news of Haiti's earthquake. After watching a television news report about the children survivors of the Haitian earthquake, Thalia told her mother she wanted to send her toys to help "put smiles" on the Haitian children's faces. Thalia has named her dream: "Hope For Haiti's Children."

Amazing Kids! will sell both Thalia and Remmi's winning Launch My Dream! t-shirts on their new online store starting in early September to help both girls raise money for their causes. Amazing Kids! Founder and President Alyse Rome explains: "We are delighted to support the beautiful dreams of these two amazing kids, Thalia and Remmi. By offering their winning t-shirts in our new online store, we are providing the public with a way of showing their support for two great causes, Juvenile Diabetes research and young Haitian earthquake victims. Amazing Kids! plans to further expand our line of Launch My Dream! CharityWearTM in the coming months and years to represent even more kids' dreams."

A native of Louisiana, Thalia notes: "I am so proud that my t-shirt design will help the children of Haiti. I am excited and happy to be helping the children, and I hope people will donate from their hearts and share my dream 'Hope for Haiti's Children'. I am also thankful for the opportunity given to me by Amazing Kids! and Ms. Alyse. Hip Hip Hooray for Haiti!"

Two of the first members to join Thalia's "Dream Team" include the Amazing Kids! PenPals program (http://amazing-kids.org/penpals), who will help match Haitian earthquake victims with French-speaking American pen pals to be their friends, and the kid-founded organization Ashlee's Toy Closet, which will provide a new toy to accompany each letter from their new pen pal. Ashlee's Toy Closet founder Ashlee Smith is also a former Amazing Kid! of the Month (November 2008: http://amazing-kids.org/akom10-08.html#top).

Remmi's dream, "Healthy Kids," will help inspire kids to live healthy lifestyles by encouraging them to cook and eat healthy foods and exercise regularly. Amazing Kids! will work with Remmi to launch a campaign called C.H.E.F., which will encourage kids to "Cook Healthy, Exercise Frequently." The campaign will include an Amazing Kids! Contest challenging kids to live healthy lifestyles by keeping track of their eating and exercise habits. Remmi comments: ""This win is very important to me. I am so happy my Launch My Dream! t-shirt will help children with diabetes and I hope children everywhere will take the C.H.E.F. Challenge to improve their health. I hope people will donate whatever they can to help find a cure for juvenile diabetes. I am so thankful for Amazing Kids! and this great opportunity to launch my dream and help others."

Remmi was previously featured as the February 2010 "Amazing Kid! of the Month" (http://amazing-kids.org/c72) on the Amazing Kids! website, amazing-kids.org. Remmi's dream was inspired by her passion for healthy cooking and her kids' cooking show she hosts, Cook Time with Remmi, which appears on Oklahoma cable television and on her website, CookTimeWithRemmi.com.

Both Remmi and Thalia will receive their Launch My Dream! T-shirt and a Razor Pro Scooter donated by All Children's Furniture, a Launch My Dream! contest sponsor. Additionally, their Launch My Dream! t-shirts will be sold in the new Amazing Kids! online store to raise money for their cause. The Amazing Kids! e-store will also feature new Amazing Kids!' branded t-shirts and Launch My Dream! initiative shirts and other promotional items.

Half of the proceeds from the girls shirts will be donated to support their causes: Remmi's t-shirt sales will support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and Thalia's will support Ashlee's Toy Closet's Pennies for Orphans project and a to-be-named international relief agency, and the remaining proceeds will benefit the Amazing Kids! Launch my Dream! initiative to help more kids like Thalia and Remmi launch their dreams.

To view Thalia's and Remmi's essays and winning t-shirt designs, visit the contest page on the Amazing Kids! website at: http://amazing-kids.org/contest_lmd09. The shirts will be available for purchase on the Amazing Kids! website starting in early September. For more information on how to support Thalia and Remmi's dreams, please contact Amazing Kids! at: dreamteam@amazing-kids.org or call 206-331-3807.
