New Chicago-based Company Puts the "Social" Back into Social Buying

CitySwarm organizes events for social Chicagoans who want to explore the city, take advantage of group deals, and meet new people.

2011-01-10
CHICAGO, IL, January 10, 2011 (Press-News.org) CitySwarm LLC (http://www.cityswarmchicago.com), a new social experience company that combines the concept of group buying with offline social interactions, recently launched in Chicago and will offer Chicagoans a new option for exploring the city. CitySwarm negotiates group deals with Chicago's top cultural, entertainment, recreation, and dining venues to provide affordable, fun experiences to city dwellers ages 25-40. Participants can take advantage of these great deals while socializing with peers in a comfortable setting.

Unlike daily deal sites where customers purchase a ticket for an activity and are on their own to recruit friends and plan the rest, CitySwarm organizes a group activity at a specific time and place, and typically combines it with a social reception.

"I've bought event tickets through other deal sites," said CitySwarm Founder Lindsay Saewitz,"but there's not much socializing going on once you're there. People stick to their own groups, or you find yourself among families and tourists. With a CitySwarm event, not only are you trying something new in the city and getting a good deal, but also everyone is there to socialize and meet new people."

"My group of friends and I want to try new activities around Chicago," Lindsay added, "but it's hard to organize and we always wind up doing the same things. CitySwarm takes the hassle out of planning so all you need to do is buy a ticket, show up and have a great time."

CitySwarm events begin in February and tickets will go on sale this month. In the works are tickets to a Broadway in Chicago production, a BYOB tour of haunted locations, a Drinking and Drawing class, and much more.

CitySwarm, launched in November 2010, organizes social experiences for active Chicagoans who want to explore the city, take advantage of group deals, and meet new people. Events include cultural outings, outdoor activities, live entertainment, and day excursions, and are targeted towards city dwellers ages 25-40.
