WHAT:
National Pie Day Celebration
WHERE/WHEN:
National Pie Day is a holiday created by the American Pie Council dedicated to the celebration of pie. As part of our American heritage, this day is a perfect opportunity to pass on the love and enjoyment of pie eating and pie making to future generations. And what better way to celebrate this day in San Antonio then to enjoy some pie from Tootie Pie Company (a retail, corporate, and wholesale manufacturer of high-quality, handmade pies headquartered in Boerne) and some pie song parodies from "Premiere", a street team performance group from Stone Oak Youth Theatre (an educational theatre and performing arts center for kids and teens).
"For years, fans from all around have been 'singing' the praises of Ruby Lorraine 'Tootie' Feagan and her award-winning pies (winners of The National Pie Championship). We are excited to have the talented kids from Stone Oak Youth Theatre, 'singing' songs about Tootie and her gourmet pies to help us celebrate National Pie Day" (including her good ol' fashioned Texas Pecan pie, pictured right), says Don Merrill, Tootie Pie Company's President and CEO.
According to Maryclaire Becan, owner/director of Stone Oak Youth Theatre & Dance Company, "The concept behind our street team - a new program that started this year at SOYT - is that they are an elite and multi-talented group of young performers who become the ambassadors for our theatre and for any companies we partner with at all public events. What better company for them to premiere their group, now named 'Premiere', than a company that makes a product that they are already passionate about...pie!"
BACKGROUND:
• Tootie Pie Company bakes and sells high-quality, handmade pies through three basic sales channels: retail, corporate and wholesale. The retail segment serves individual consumers through in-store sales, orders via telephone and internet on the Company's website. The corporate segment serves businesses that purchase pies as a way to promote their company through client and employee appreciation programs. The wholesale segment is made up of national and regional broad line grocery and foodservice distributors who purchase pies and then resell them through their respective sales distribution channels. Tootie Pie Company is a public company traded on the NASDAQ OTC market under the symbol "TOOT." Immediate Issues: Getting Rid Of Excess Inventory
2011-01-16
Excess inventory. A supplier's worst headache. It doesn't make any revenues. The truth is, just the reverse; it takes up precious warehouse room that could be used for inventory that is selling. Every day it sits there, more money is lost on storage space, safety measures, insurance coverage, and maintenance expenses.
How to take care of it?
There are some options. One, it can be given to a cause such as Goodwill or perhaps the Salvation Army. Two, it can be tossed out. That would stop the figurative hemorrhaging immediately. Zero profit, but then no additional deficits ...
