Local Law Firm Giving Back this Holiday Season
Olinsky Law Group partnered with Little Lukes School.
SYRACUSE, NY, January 13, 2012
The Olinsky Law Group recently partnered with the Little Lukes School for two different drives: a Thanksgiving food drive and a Christmas toy drive. The collaboration arose out of the idea of one of Olinsky Law Group's attorneys, Karen S. Southwick, to partner with Little Lukes School for a food drive. "I was struck by how similar our goals are," said Southwick. "The Olinsky Law Group is a law firm that helps individuals of all ages with special needs and disabilities while Little Lukes offers service to children with special needs. I knew that if we worked together, we could give back something valuable to the community."
Students of two Little Lukes' locations, DeWitt and Radisson, collected 112 pounds of food that was then donated to the Food Bank of Central New York. According to the Food Bank, the donation was just in time for the busy Thanksgiving holiday and helped fight hunger in central and northern New York. After the great success of the food drive, Olinsky Law Group again partnered with the Little Lukes School for a toy drive. The students collected toys and stocking stuffers that were donated to the Salvation Army for their Christmas Bureau Day, which was held on December 22nd.
"It was incredible to see such young children care so deeply for other children in need, to see families coming together to help families," Meg Kellogg, Director of Little Lukes - Radisson said. "We were thrilled to be able to find such a great opportunity in this partnership to be able to give back to our community."
