Addressing Job Strategies during Economic Turbulence

Dr. Daryl D. Green and William Bailey provide new insights for gainful employment during economic turbulence.

2010-08-12
KNOXVILLE, TN, August 12, 2010 (Press-News.org) People are losing their jobs. Retirees are losing their retirements. US companies are losing market share due to competition abroad. Is there any wonder why college students are losing hope in finding a good job for the future? Simply put, landing a job today is an extreme uphill challenge, considering the large number of graduating students combined with the rising number of the unemployed.

Dr. Daryl D. Green and William Bailey will discuss how to deal with the economic downturn by using creative and innovative job strategies for employment. This will take place on August 21st, 3:30 p.m., at the Payne Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. The discussion will be a part of the book dedication program at the church. Their new book, Job Strategies for the 21st Century: How to Assist Today's College Students during Economic Turbulence, provides practical solutions to the challenges that today's college students face when attempting to find employment in an unstable economy. The book trailer can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_LKEMrIweA .

Approximately, 15 million people are unemployed. Simply put, landing a job today is an extreme uphill challenge, considering the large number of graduating students combined with the rising number of the unemployed. Bailey notes, "Having been there, as a despondent college graduate, and by engaging today's students as guest lecturers, we know and understand the importance for students to plan for their career goals. Daryl and I believe most college students neglect the need for career planning."

Currently, college graduates ( https://www.createspace.com/3467604 ) find themselves competing with other individuals who are more seasoned and experienced for basic entry level positions in their career field. Therefore, a different type of strategy is needed during economic turbulence. Dr. Green notes, "I think people are using old methods for job hunting ( https://www.createspace.com/3467604 ). It simply isn't working. Bill and I have found a huge disconnect between what organizations are desiring in potential employees and what today's graduates are providing.

Dr. Daryl Green and William Bailey combined have helped thousands with lectures, seminars, and columns. They have written articles, visited numerous university campuses, interviewed students and shared their insights on job strategies. The event is free. Dr. Green and Bailey are available for media interviews on the issues of job strategies during economic turbulence.
