DESOTO, TX, January 22, 2013 (Press-News.org) Palomar Modular Buildings, Desoto, Tx. announces an accelerated man camp program to inventory man camp units to include dormitories, dining rooms, laundry buildings and other support facilities. The purpose of this effort is to provide a faster response to the growing demand for immediate buildings in the Southwest. Oilfield housing operators are being encouraged to make their needs and specifications known so that the inventory can be configured to meet these needs.
Dormitories and man camp configurations are available today. Other buildings will be available fully furnished to include complete kitchens, Laundromats, workout rooms and more. All buildings are equipped with code conforming fire safety equipment to include alarms, sprinklers, rated corridors and other key safety features. John Martin, President of Palomar, http://www.palomarmodularbuildings.com said, "going into the winter we wanted to be ready to beat the installation problems facing our customers in winter conditions." The Palomar plant has doubled its production in the last 18 months in part because of the increased activity in Oklahoma and Eastern Colorado.
In addition to this inventory of buildings for temporary housing, Palomar is preparing to build more permanent type dormitories and apartments with a complete set of amenities. Martin says "We have delivered thousands of square feet of much needed space to the oil patch. The dining halls we have installed are now feeding hundreds of workers every day." At a time when the construction industry has struggled to find jobs, the uptick in resource development in remote locations has spurred a variety of new building demands to include restaurants, medical clinics, grocery stores and even a barber shop. According to Palomar the demand for business space to serve workers is not unusual in remote locations. A shortage of construction labor means that the Palomar factory can provide significant relief for markets where buildings serving basic needs are either nonexistent or in very short supply. Martin states,"We are encouraging our customers to be creative in site preparation so that support utilities can be hooked up quickly." He states that some services such as telephone, Wi‐Fi connections, and TV cable can take months to install. Generators, potable water and temporary sanitation are all being used to make buildings suitable for workers. According to Martin, "We are in a new age for providing human comfort in remote locations."
