Belle Chevre's unique goat cheese cheesecake continues to garner awards and attention. The latest acclaim comes from the Dairy Innovation Awards for Best Dairy Dessert, making it a must-add to any dessert case.

2013-06-26
ELKMONT, IL, June 26, 2013 (Press-News.org) Belle Chevre's Goat Cheese Cheesecake was named Best Dairy Dessert in the 2013 Dairy Innovation Awards. The cheesecake was chosen among entries from 23 different countries across 15 categories. It is lighter than the typical cheesecake, since goat cheese is both higher in protein and lower in calories and fat than cream cheese. They are made fresh and with all natural ingredients, including Belle Chevre's very own handmade Alabama goat cheese.

"These cheesecakes are setting the market on fire," says Tasia Malakasis, president. "We are honored to receive another reward recognizing their excellence." Belle Chevre's cheesecakes have also received attention from The New York Times, a Best New Product award from Gourmet Retailer magazine, and an editor's pick at The Nibble. It is also a Sofi Finalist in the upcoming Fancy Food Show.

They're "a divine mix of goat cheese and cream cheese", according the The Nibble. "When Belle Chevre's cheesecake arrived, we devoured it." The cheesecakes are 27 ounces, six inches in diameter, and retail for $29.95. The cheesecakes can be slacked out and have an extended shelf life when frozen.

Belle Chevre has been recognized and applauded by everyone from the American Cheese Society (for excellence in craftsmanship) and the Good Food Awards (for excellence in sustainability) to the Today Show and Oprah Magazine. With 25 years of cheesemaking experience under their belt, this passionate group of artisans has nearly 100 national awards and is a favorite of the nation's most savvy cheesemongers. Their unique selection of handmade cheeses go far beyond the classic log to include sweet breakfast chevres, cheeses marinated in olive oil and herbs, a chevre cheesecake, and DIY cheese kits.

Belle Chèvre has produced a variety of internationally acclaimed chevres since 1989 using time-tested European farmstead techniques. The company is purposefully small, and each chevre is hand made by its passionate cheese makers. The result is an artisan cheese with a mild and distinct taste and texture that reflects the care with which it was made.

Belle Chèvre cheeses have received numerous national awards from the American Cheese Society and the American Dairy Goat Association, and has been featured in many top culinary books and magazines.
