OMAHA, NE, November 22, 2010 (Press-News.org) Vinod (Vin) Gupta, Chairman of the World Education Foundation and a 1967 graduate of IIT Kharagpur, attended the 3-day event in Dehli, India. PanIIT is an umbrella organization covering alumni of all Indian Institutes of Technology. Over the years, these conferences have become one of the leading technology summits for business leaders.
This year the PanIIT 2010 Global Conference focused on good governance, knowledge-based economy, entrepreneurial, innovation, and equivalent and happy society.
Mrs. Shrimati Pratibha Patil, President of India, addressed the conference along with a large number of industry leaders, academic scholars, government officials and alumni of the prestigious IIT's. Many eminent speakers and panelists participated in the conference and shared their views on challenges and opportunities in critical areas such as education, energy, climate change, public health and digital infrastructure.
Gupta participated in the entrepreneurial panel discussion on fostering entrepreneurship in IIT's students. Gupta spoke about how important it is to be innovators and inform, promote, and influence ideas about entrepreneurship throughout the IIT community. Gupta has set up the Vinod Gupta School of Management and the School of Intellectual Property Law at IIT Kharagpur. These schools offer a 5-year Business Technology and MBA Program.
The 2010 chapter of PanIIT addressed the imperatives of emerging 'New India,' where the speakers and delegates deliberated on the various facets of growth and transformation and identified ways and means to ensure sustainable and equitable use of available human and natural resources in India.
Some of the key speakers for this year's event were: Sam Pitroda, Tom Friedman, R.K. Pachauri, Nandan Nilekani, Gurcharan Das, Farooq Abdullah, Arun Majumdar, Pradeep Khosla and Romesh Wadhwani amongst others.
