Inaugural Insurance Industry Twitter Chat Set for September 15 at 2p.m.

Insurance Marketing HQ is hosting the first insurance-specific Twitter chat to discuss social media in the industry and how it can benefit agencies

September 12, 2010

The social media team from Insurance Marketing HQ (IMHQ) is spearheading the first, reoccurring insurance industry Twitter chat on September 15th at 2 p.m. EST for anyone using the microblogging service. The Twitter chats (defined below) will occur once a month and explore ways social media can be used to help agencies and the insurance industry in general.

Twitter chats are used in many vertical markets to bring professionals, experts, and social media thought leaders together to brainstorm relative topics while expanding individual networks. Twitter chats are not a new concept, with a slew of event and education-based chats already in place ranging from #agchat (for those in the business of selling food) to #u30pro (how to bridge the generational gap), but no specific, re-occurring insurance industry chats have existed to this point.

Twitter chats are open to anyone with or without a Twitter account and will include questions and moderation by the Insurance Marketing HQ (IMHQ) social media team. The inaugural Twitter chat, scheduled for 9/15, will focus on how social media can be used to grow insurance agencies while getting participants used to the format and allowing them to grow their networks by sharing new ideas and viewpoints with fellow insurance professionals.

The hashtag (term used to organize new updates) will be #INSchat.

A full set of instructions for how to participate in #INSchat is posted on the Insurance Marketing HQ blog: http://www.insurancemarketinghq.com/2010/09/inschat/.

More specific Twitter chats will be planned each month covering a new topic relative to insurance marketing or industry news. #INSchat was created to bring new and experienced social media users together for a group brainstorming session that seeks to improve perceptions of the industry while helping insurance professionals feel more comfortable with social networking.

Insurance Marketing HQ is a social media community set up by Nick Brown, community manager for Astonish Results. The #INSchat has no affiliation to Astonish Results and is purely
for learning and networking purposes.
