Biography - Heather O'Brien
Heather O'Brien is a contemporary mainstream fiction author with a special, if personal, affinity for compelling, character-driven stories that explore the motivations of passionate, talented, and often troubled people who live at the top of the recording industry. Far from the oft-portrayed one-dimensional glamour stories, Heather explores the complicated dynamics of life and love, of choice and consequence, of regret and reconciliation.
The great-great-granddaughter of world-renowned cellist Bruno Steindel of the Chicago Symphony, Heather can trace five generations of notable musicians, artists and toy makers in her family tree. The only child of young parents in the mid-60s, music was a constant in Heather's life. She was told she could sing before she could speak. Her mother and father often played music and sang during her earliest years. Unsurprisingly, Heather's first foray into writing was painted upon the canvas of the music industry. She originally wrote The Ties That Bind at eleven years of age.
Life experience allowed her to add human depth and drama to the original story, resulting in an initial publication in 2001 and a final revision in 2010. Like all human drama, The Ties That Bind is complex and surpasses the confines of a single novel and is now a saga that spans six novels. Book Two of the series, Embers from Ash and Ruin, will be released in November 2010.
