FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, October 12, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Pillars Hotel in Fort Lauderdale is pleased to announce that it now hosting the artwork Christina Lihan in the hotel's new dining and bar area. Ms. Lihan's architecturally inspired three-dimensional reliefs of skyscrapers, cityscapes and historic buildings have been the talk of the town since her successful solo show in April of this year at The Avenue Lofts in Fort Lauderdale.

"We are very excited to have Christina's extraordinary pieces gracing the walls of our new dining room and bar," says Pillars owner Michael Landry. "She is a very special person with exceptional talent. Her works capture your attention immediately. You not only find the pieces aesthetically stunning, you can't help wondering 'how does she do it?' I believe there is little question that she will be nationally recognized after her upcoming solo show in New York."

Ms. Lihan is a formally trained architect who turned her talents from the built form to sculpting paper into architecture. She carves, cuts, scores, bends and folds watercolor paper by hand to form facades that come alive with shadows, texture, light and details.

"Christina's works are a perfect complement to the combined classic and art deco style design of The Pillars dining and lounge theme created by well known designer Zeke Fernandez," says Landry. "Her white reliefs fit perfectly with the modernized relaxed 40s look featured in the hotel's common areas. Christina's architectural images look like they were commissioned for the spaces," says Zeke Fernandez.

Ms. Lihan enjoys a very accomplished eclectic background. Ms. Lihan received her Bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Virginia and went on to get her Master's in Architecture from Columbia University in N.Y.C. In addition, she received architectural internships in London, Italy and Paris.

It is also interesting to note that Christina Lihan has enjoyed a great deal of success as a world class athlete. As a swimmer in her school days, she made it to several World Championships, Olympic Trials and won the National Championships. More recently, she has proven herself as a long distance triathlete having competed in six Ironman events, including two World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

The Pillars Hotel is Fort Lauderdale's premier boutique hotel. The property is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) and a Conde Nast Johansens selected hotel. Ideally located right on the Intracoastal Waterway, and only a few short steps from the beach, The Pillars offers its guests an exceptional level of individual service and luxury, reminiscent of the finest in European boutique inns.
