Pennsylvania Tour Bus Company Involved in Fatal New Jersey Crash

Super Luxury Tours, Inc. -- a Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, bus company owned and operated the luxury bus involved in a March 2011 crash that killed two and injured upwards of 40 more, several of them critically.

2011-05-31
May 31, 2011 (Press-News.org) Super Luxury Tours, Inc. -- a Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, bus company with a longstanding record of safety violations -- owned and operated the luxury bus involved in a March 2011 crash that killed two and injured upwards of 40 more, several of them critically.

The bus was traveling on the New Jersey Turnpike from New York City's "Chinatown" neighborhood to Philadelphia when its driver apparently lost control. The bus left the road and struck a concrete overpass support structure, crossed several lanes of traffic and then collided with a grassy embankment on the opposite side of the highway. The driver was killed instantly after being ejected through the windshield. A 20-year-old passenger later succumbed to severe head trauma received in the accident.

A Lengthy Record of Safety Violations
Super Luxury Tours, Inc., is no stranger to law enforcement officials in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The company has a record of safety violations, bus accidents and infractions stretching back several years. In the past two years alone, the company's buses have been involved in four accidents, two of which resulted in injuries. Furthermore, company drivers have been cited for:

- Several speeding violations
- Failing to obey traffic control signs and signals
- Being unable to read/speak/understand basic English signs and commands

With the sheer number of citations and accidents plaguing it, Super Luxury Tours, Inc., has the dubious distinction of having one of the worst driver safety records in the country. In fact, according to information provided by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), the company has a lower overall safety rating than a whopping 99.6 percent of similarly sized bus carriers throughout the nation.

Bus travel is relatively inexpensive, so it is a popular choice in these tough economic times. As passengers, we trust that the bus we are on will be operated by a careful and conscientious driver who will take us safely to our destination. Unfortunately, that is not always the case, and a driver's negligent operation of an oversized vehicle like a bus can result in an accident that injures or kills passengers and occupants of smaller passenger vehicles sharing the road.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a bus accident, you need the skilled representation of an experienced personal injury attorney in your area to hold reckless drivers and bus companies responsible for their actions.

Co-parenting is sometimes referred to as joint-custody, in which both parents share time and responsibility for the children. Such arrangements require the coordination of two separate ...
