Maple Grove Dentist Offers New Procedure for Relief of Dental Anxiety

Dr. Ryan Francis, Maple Grove cosmetic dentist, is now offering sedation dentistry to calm patient fears.

2012-01-13
MAPLE GROVE, MN, January 13, 2012 (Press-News.org) Dr. Ryan Francis, Maple Grove dentist, is pleased to offer sedation dentistry to put an end to the fears of patients suffering from dental anxiety. Patients no longer have to fear going to the dentist for treatment with the advancement of sedation dentistry, which is used to establish a relaxed, easy and calm state through the use of sedatives.

Sedation dentistry refers to the use of anesthesia during treatment to put patients into a relaxed state, almost like sleep. It is often used during procedures that require an extensive amount of time in the treatment chair, and is ideal for patients who experience dental phobia or have difficulty controlling their movements. Many forms of sedation in Maple Grove are used to alleviate anxiety or put patients in a sleep-like state, so that little is felt or remembered from the procedure.

"Many patients avoid the dentist due to fear, which can keep them from having a sparkling smile and healthy teeth. With sedation dentistry I am pleased to offer a safe and easy alternative that allows my patients to get their teeth cleaned, in addition to receiving other dental treatments, in a sleep-like state. By offering sedation dentistry, my patients can rest easy," said Dr. Ryan Francis, Maple Grove cosmetic dentist.

Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is a very safe and mild gas that allows people to feel less apprehensive during treatment. This is one of the most commonly used techniques administered by Dr. Ryan Francis, family dentist in Maple Grove, during conscious sedation.

The goal of using nitrous oxide is to eliminate dental anxiety, making patients more comfortable while Dr. Francis and Dr. Mazhary, dentists in Maple Grove, are able to effectively and efficiently complete treatment. Nitrous oxide is used by dentists as a sedation method for simple tooth extractions, root canals, dental inlays, oral surgery and other various options.

Additionally, IV sedation is both safe and effective creating such a comfortable experience that most patients may not even remember their visit to the office. IV sedation induces a state of deep relaxation and a feeling of not being bothered about what is going on around the patient. The onset of action with IV sedation is very rapid and the dosage can be tailored to meet each patient's individual needs.

Patients who suffer from dental phobias or anxieties are encouraged to contact Drs. Ryan Francis and Aram Mazhary, Maple Grove family dentists, about available options for sedation dentistry. Patients no longer have to fear receiving treatments for their dental ailments.
