BOLTON, ENGLAND, January 13, 2012 (Press-News.org) The founder of the UK's largest online parcel delivery service, Parcel2Go, has said anyone is capable of making it in business if they have the right attitude.
Fil Adams-Mercer launched the Parcel2Go.com website in 2000 and over the past 11 years has helped build the company into an industry leader, responsible for handling more than two million packages every single year and attracting in excess of 18,000 new customers each month.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph newspaper, he said he was inspired to launch an online presence following a trip to America, "where every single advert was for www.something.com". None of the major UK courier companies had ventured online and started offering bookings over the Internet at this point, and his vision was rewarded with success. Parcel2Go turned over GBP17.5m in the 12 months to April 2011, a figure which is expected to rise to GBP22m this year.
But while Mr Adams-Mercer has now earned a respected place as one of the UK's top business leaders, he remains proud of his background and his first job learning how to sell on Bolton Market when he was still at school.
He said: "I don't mind being compared to Del Boy. That's what I am, a market trader done good.
"I don't do joined-up writing and I can't spell for toffee. So doesn't that give everyone a chance? If I've done it, you can do it."
Parcel2Go itself plays a key part in helping entrepreneurs and small businesses get their goods to customers in the UK and countries across the world quickly, efficiently and cheaply with reliable courier services. In recent years an increasing number of start-ups have established themselves online and now rely on world-renowned couriers booked through Parcel2Go to get their consignments delivered safely and on time.
About Parcel2Go:
Parcel2Go Ltd has been offering its customers the opportunity to organise London, Birmingham and Bristol courier service deliveries for the past 21 years. Based in Bolton, the company operates a cost-effective collection and delivery service using couriers such as City Link and DHL throughout the UK, Europe, and countries across the world.

The Olinsky Law Group recently partnered with the Little Lukes School for two different drives: a Thanksgiving food drive and a Christmas toy drive.
The collaboration arose out of the idea of one of Olinsky Law Group's attorneys, Karen S. Southwick, to partner with Little Lukes School for a food drive. "I was struck by how similar our goals are," said Southwick. "The Olinsky Law Group is a law firm that helps individuals of all ages with special needs and disabilities while Little Lukes offers service to children with special needs. I knew that if we ...

Colorado to Consider New Pain Management Guidelines
2012-01-13
In an effort to reduce the number of injured workers addicted to pain medications, Colorado's Workers' Compensation Division is considering a number of changes to its prescribing guidelines. The proposed changes stem from the federal government's concerns of a public health epidemic based on larger (and more frequent) doses of painkillers prescribed by doctors. According to the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, the milligram-per-person use of prescription opioids increased dramatically between 1997 and 2007.
The state of Washington recently changed ...
Planning for Divorce in the New Year
2012-01-13
The holiday season is a common time for families to spend time together. Even people in troubled relationships use the holidays to make things as normal as possible for children and to keep meddling family members at bay.
Now that the holiday season is over and normal life resumes, some people, especially women, view the New Year as a time to leave troubled marriages behind. It is no secret that more divorces are filed in January than any other month of the year.
If you are contemplating divorce in 2012, two important tips can help you make a smooth transition.

Georgia Law Clarifies How Drivers and Bicyclists Must Share the Road
2012-01-13
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 600 bicyclists were killed and another 51,000 were injured in 2009. From 2000 to 2006, bicycle crashes accounted for only one-quarter of one percent of all traffic crashes. Yet in those years, Georgia ranked eighth among the states with the most bicycle fatalities. In 2008, the Georgia Highway Patrol reported the deaths of 20 bicyclists among the state's nearly 1,500 traffic-accident fatalities.
To combat the problem of bicycle accidents, the Georgia Legislature enacted a new law designed ...

A recent "survey" was conducted by an organization identified as Coalition for Common Sense (CCS) and the results indicate the majority of citizens in Louisiana feel there is a need for tort reform. Their survey found:

- 69 percent agreed that lawsuit abuse costs jobs
- 71 percent agreed that lawsuit abuse is hurting the state's economy
- 85 percent agreed that personal injury lawyer ads encourage people to sue
Surveys of this type, however, always raise more questions than they answer. For instance, ...
Accidents Persist in One of the Most Dangerous Jobs: Commercial Fishing
2012-01-13
Though the commercial fishing industry is governed by many state and federal safety regulations, workers continue to be severely injured or killed while on the job. Seamen assigned to work on trawlers have recently been at particular risk of work-related injury or fatality. Fortunately, seamen are able to use the protections afforded them by the Jones Act to hold their employers accountable for accidents involving commercial fishing trawlers.
Trawler Accidents
One harrowing example of how dangerous commercial fishing can be is the Alaska Ranger accident. In 2008, ...

2012-01-13
The personal injury attorneys at McCann Schaible & Wall, LLC encourage Pennsylvanians to contact their state representatives in support of S.B. 1339.
The bill would raise the minimum auto policy limits from from $15,000 per person/$30,000 per accident and $5,000 in property damage to $30,000 per person/$60,000 per accident and $10,000 in property damage. These limits have been in place since 1974 and dictate the minimum amount of coverage which is required for Pennsylvania motorists to be fully insured.
This proposal would benefit all motorists in Pennsylvania, ...
