DK Connect Research Why New Year's Resolutions Fail and What To Do Differently in 2013

With many businesses looking to make changes and improvements to the products and services they offer in the new year DK Connect looks at why individuals fail to accomplish last year's goals and how to avoid making the same mistakes in 2013.

2012-12-06
BELFAST, IRELAND, December 06, 2012 (Press-News.org) DK Connect is a leading outsourced sales and marketing company in the UK & Ireland. The company was formed due to a market need for a company to deliver sales along with all the planning and management required to deliver real results.

A Survey by allabouthealth.gov.uk showed that three quarters of Britons had broken their new years resolutions before the ninth of January 2012. Plans to get fit, save money and lose weight were aborted after only nine days. Only one in four of 3,000 adults surveyed was confident of maintaining his or her resolve throughout January. The same survey also revealed that physical and emotional well being topped priority lists for 2012.

The study by allabouthealth.gov.uk demonstrated that six in 10 people admitted making the same resolution last year, with an average of four attempts failing. Ramune Kuskyte, Managing Director at DK Connect states that setting resolutions is a great way to start afresh but as statistics show, it can be difficult to kick old habits. People often fall by the wayside and it's completely normal, in my experience people often make the same mistakes when setting resolutions.

Goal setting is has long been disputed as one of the most influential factors in achievement and success. "A lot of people forget that a resolution is really just a goal and should be treated as such, there is no real significance to it just because it starts on January 1st it needs to be treated in the same way with structure and commitment" explains Managing Director at DK Connect Ramune Kuskyte.

The study also found that the number one reason for not following through on a resolution is lack of motivation. MD at DK Connect Ramune Kuskyte states that whether it's a business or an individual, any goal or resolution has to have meaning or be important to the parties involved. I read a book a couple of years ago called the Compound Effect by Darren Hardy it mentioned that "the key to success is doing the things you set out to do, even when the mood has left you" Making worthwhile changes is not easy but a little patience and tenacity is key in getting the result you want. This is a principle that I have applied in both my personal life and in my career.

DK Connect is the leading direct sales and marketing company in the UK & Ireland. Formed due to a market need for a company to deliver sales along with all the planning and management required to deliver real results.
