Close to 1,000 attend Westchester County Association attend rally for government reform

2010-08-19
ELMSFORD, NY, August 19, 2010 (Press-News.org) Widespread dissatisfaction with New York State lawmakers is no secret amid a groundswell of support for reforms in government spending and taxation, and Westchester businesses want to make sure that Albany hears the message loud and clear. The Westchester County Association (WCA) recently hosted a crowd of close to 1,000 attendees at its Call to Action rally at the Rye Town Hilton in Rye Brook, New York. Corporate Audio Visual Services (Corporate AV), an event sponsor, coordinated all audiovisual production and lighting services for the event.

Corporate AV planned, provided and managed equipment in three distinct hotel areas. The reception lobby featured two 50" plasma screens displaying laptop presentations with facts and background on why the Call to Action Rally was necessary. Attendees were able to register online upon arrival at one of 15 laptops equipped with wireless networking cards. For the VIP reception, Corporate AV supplied a podium, microphone, and sound system to welcome the large crowd and introduce the program, which featured former New York City Mayor Ed Koch. The main ballroom for the event required extensive audio, visual, lighting, and staging equipment and services to ensure that all attendees felt that they were an integral part of the rally.

"I can say with 100% certainty that much of the success of the Call to Action event came from Corporate AV's efforts and expertise." said Julia Salem, Westchester County Association's Director of Events. "We value our relationship with Corporate AV and cannot thank Joe and his team enough."

• Video equipment included two 9x12 screens with Christie 10,000 Lumen Projectors for presentations and live camera images that were captured with a Canon XL2 Professional Camera. A 5x9 Screen with Sanyo 5,200 Lumen Projector displayed the Call to Action banner as part of the stage design. Supporting the projections was a video engineering system complete with two laptops, a DVD Player, dual recording decks, and seamless switching.
• The Corporate AV team carefully selected the audio system to match the size of the room and crowd. Presenters used three different types of Shure microphones: wireless, wired, and podium, and separate mics and monitor speakers were set up for the band. Sound was projected through a JBL line array speaker system using a 24 channel Allen & Heath mixer to control all audio. Members of the media worked from a 24 channel press box.
• Lighting and staging matched the podium and stage to the mood and intent of the rally. The presidential blue stage drapery was lit in red, white, and blue and the vertical lighting truss was covered in white spandex and lit from inside. Six ETC Source 4 Lights highlighted the stage and clear Lucite podium with 12 Elation LED Pars to uplight the drapery and truss.
• Corporate AV dedicated a five-person show crew to handle all of the audio, video, lighting, camera and show direction, with an additional five crew members to help setup and tear down. The staff stayed in close contact using a wireless HME Clearcom system.

"Corporate AV was proud to support this landmark event that brought together and strengthened the Westchester business community," said Joe Guilderson, President of Corporate AV. "Corporate AV recognizes the benefits of having a strong, competitive local economy that will be aided by necessary changes in Albany."
