WILMINGTON, NC, April 30, 2013 (Press-News.org) As a sign of its success and popularity within the community, Wine and Design Wilmington has moved its operations to a larger studio located in Landfall Center at 1319 Military Cutoff Road, Suite JJ between Haverty's Furniture and Figments Art Gallery. The studio is also under new ownership and management and is now under the direction of Claudia Outlaw.
Wine and Design is a popular business that began in Raleigh, NC in April 2010 and offers clients an easy and fun approach to painting. The company provides the canvas, cover up, paints, paintbrushes, and corkscrew and attendees provide a beverage of his or her choosing. First-time painters, aspiring artists, or self-proclaimed pro's browse the studio's website to find a painting they would like to replicate. Sessions are led by local artists that guide participants through a carefully-orchestrated, step-by-step process that promises a finished "masterpiece" at the end of the two-hour session.
Outlaw, who is from Eastern North Carolina, was working for AAA in Raleigh, but soon began looking for an opportunity to return to the coast. Shortly after her eldest daughter relocated to Wilmington, Outlaw learned that Wine and Design Wilmington was for sale. As Outlaw explained, "The love of my daughter and the love of the water brought me back home."
Wine and Design Wilmington first opened its doors in March 2011. Outlaw purchased the Wilmington franchise in August 2012 and recently relocated the studio to a 1,480 square foot space that features two private party rooms. In a little over two years, Outlaw said that she has seen a steady increase in growth despite the continued sluggish economy. She explained that even though families are being mindful of their budgets, Wine and Design's starting price point of $35 for a two-hour class is attractive to folks who are looking for an affordable and fun night out.
"What's different about a night out at Wine and Design versus going out to dinner or to the movies is that people get to take something home with them," said Outlaw. "After their two-hour painting class, our clients will have this unique and personal memento of their night out. It's not only a chance to be creative, but to also enjoy a stress-free evening with family, friends, or colleagues."
In addition to its date nights, paint your house and paint your pet nights, and private parties, Wine and Design Wilmington is also offering two special nights that Outlaw has added: "Parents Night Out", where parents can drop their child (ages 7-12) off on a pre-determined Friday or Saturday for painting and pizza, and "Ladies Lunch and Paint" offered from 11:30-2:00pm where attendees can paint and have lunch at the studio. Wine and Design Wilmington also offers classes tailored to children and young adults with its Art BUZZ Kids classes. The studio offers its "famous" Art BUZZ Kids Camp, special painting classes, and hosts birthday parties.
The studio is open Tuesday thru Saturday from 6:30-8:30 pm and from 4:00-6:00pm on Sunday. Mondays are set aside for private parties. Wine and Design Wilmington is currently accepting reservations for April classes.
