Promethean Offers Modern Learning Technologies as Part of School Pride

Promethean has announced that it is giving a number of schools modern learning technologies as part of the reality TV show School Pride.

2010-10-30
LANCASHIRE, ENGLAND, October 30, 2010 (Press-News.org) Promethean has announced that a number of schools will be given devices such as interactive whitebords and student assessment devices as part of a new reality TV series "School Pride".

New school years are chock-full of optimism and opportunity. For teachers and students at seven of the schools featured in the new NBC series "School Pride", the year started off in newly remodeled classrooms outfitted with modern learning technologies from Promethean.

Over the summer, Promethean joined students, teachers, community volunteers and other business leaders to renovate deserving schools as part of a new reality TV show, School Pride. But, in the end, the show has done more than simply rebuild facilities; it rejuvenated the spirit of the school communities and inspired both students and teachers.

"We recognized that supporting teachers means more than simply giving them instructional tools and resources. It means working hand-in-hand to find solutions so that all students can have a rich, learning experience," commented Mark Elliott, president of Promethean North America. "There are thousands of classrooms and schools deserving of a School Pride makeover and we will work tirelessly to support as many of them as we can."

Each of the schools rebuilt by the show received a number of Promethean's award-winning ActivClassrooms. In addition, teachers received professional development sessions to learn best-in-class instructional practices using ActivBoards (interactive whiteboards), ActivExpression (student assessment devices), and ActivInspire software.

The show from Horizon Alternative Television premiered Friday, October 15, at 8/7CT on NBC stations. Schools and communities to be highlighted in the series include Enterprise Middle School in Compton, California; Lanier Elementary School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Kingston Springs Elementary in Kingston Springs, Nashville, Tennessee; Communication and Media Arts School in Detroit, Michigan; Needles High School in Needles, California; Hollenbeck Middle School in Los Angeles, California; and Los Angeles Center for Enrichment Studies in Los Angeles, California.
