PHILADELPHIA, PA, May 06, 2013 (Press-News.org) As a CPA and CMA, Dennis Dockery Houston TX resident, has witnessed the impact finances have on the major decisions that his clients make when developing businesses. One of the most critical decisions, according to Dockery, involves hiring new employees. He states, "While hiring new employees can provide extensive growth to a company, if the resources are not there, it can create problematic situations in the budget." To provide more depth on current hiring trends, Dockery highlights a recent Forbes article that unveils a new survey from Sageworks on private business hiring.
According to Dennis Dockery, Houston, TX CPA, although the unemployment troubles in America have somewhat improved amidst a slowly recovering economy, the Sageworks survey reveals that most private businesses are not quite ready to increase hiring. Forbes explains, "Sageworks recently surveyed accounting professionals who work closely with privately held companies and found that only about one in five expects clients to boost staffing over the next 12 months. More than half of respondents said clients plan to keep the number of employees they have currently. Based on conversations with their business clients, less than seven percent of the accounting pros said companies plan to reduce their staffing."
In response, Dennis Dockery, Houston, TX, professional, comments, "It is not necessarily incredible news that most private businesses are reluctant to take on new employees, but it is extremely encouraging that many are not decreasing staff numbers. In accounting, a business' ability to maintain itself is essential before growth can occur--so I think this trend is a good sign for future employment rates."
While the article uncovers a general pause on hiring among private businesses, it does suggest that there are critical elements that indicate steady growth and expansion among these entities. For instance, "increasing sales, strong profitability and a slow but general improvement in the U.S. economy" are noted as positive trends. While a majority of private businesses are not planning on hiring in upcoming months, the article does reveal that some private companies are experiencing growth--especially those in the construction industry. According to Dockery, the employment increase amongst construction companies is a good indicator that businesses in other industries will soon follow similar patterns.
"Construction growth generally suggests that many other industries and companies will have the ability to expand, gain additional revenue--and most importantly--increase hiring in the near future. While some may be disappointed by the lack of employment growth among private businesses, the Sageworks survey suggests that most are taking a prudent approach in response to current accounting needs. This caution may prove dissatisfying at the moment, but it is sometimes necessary to ensure more positive growth and employment in the years to come," Dennis Dockery, Houston, TX accountant concludes.
