LA JOLLA, CA, May 09, 2013 (Press-News.org) Cogent Road, a provider of innovative cloud-based mortgage technologies, announced the upcoming version of its Roohmz Enterprise Loan Production System will seamlessly integrate with DocMagic's loan level compliance/audit engine.
The new integration incorporates DocMagic's efficient loan document preparation and sophisticated auditing directly into the Roohmz workflow management engine. Each audit will come preloaded in Roohmz as an individual "event" that can be dropped directly into any loan production workflow. A single click runs an audit and stores the results. Business rules define how the workflow branches based on the results.
Once the loan is in process, there is a consistent level of auditing throughout the entire production cycle. The initial series of specific DocMagic auditing functions are embedded in Roohmz so that users can "drag and drop" and initiate such "intra-loan" compliance events as:
* Federal and state-specific high cost tests, plus Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac points and fees tests
* Federal and state-specific HPML audits
* TILA/MDIA audits
* RESPA audits
* State-specific audits, ranging from prepayment penalty audits to points and fees audits.
Using Roohmz, loan production workflow can select the individual audits based on loan type, state and local requirements, and other considerations. In addition, if the initial results indicate corrective action is necessary, they have the option of stopping the loan transaction/auditing in order to make the appropriate adjustments.
The audits run consistently on every loan to ensure high quality production that is always in compliance with all appropriate regulations and disclosure requirements.
"This solution-based integration between two committed technology partners--rather than the generic integrations that are often provided--has enabled us to create an innovative compliance solution that was not previously available to the lending industry," said William DiPaolo, CEO of Cogent Road. "DocMagic is a terrific partner, and I believe this is just the beginning of what our two firms can create together."
"This offers great synergy, with a strong link between the core workflow process and the crucial auditing function," added Dominic Iannitti, CEO of DocMagic. "For the first time, users can deploy the intra-loan audits they desire on each and every loan. New features now being developed for the audit engine will further expand the benefits of this collaborative integration."
First introduced in 2010, Roohmz Mortgage Enterprise won the mortgage industry's Software of the Year designation. It evolved out of Cogent Road's expertise in data packaging and analytics, ultimately creating a loan production system that continually monitors loan data from application to origination. Roohmz ensures loans are underwritten accurately every time, significantly reducing the risk of loan buybacks. It keeps every loan in compliance with Reg B, Reg Z and RESPA, and automatically delivers adverse notices when necessary. Roohmz provides workflow automation, paperless origination, complete with e-signing and automatic assembly of loan packages to investors.

Questions of paternity in Massachusetts
2013-05-09
More and more, Americans are having children outside of marriage. In Massachusetts, if the mother is unmarried at the time of birth, the child will not have a legal father and no father's name will be listed on the birth certificate, unless and until paternity is established. A single mother has custody of the child automatically.
What does it mean to have a legal father?
Having a legal father is important to all involved. Obviously, it not only helps develop a father-child relationship, but also significant legal rights kick in. For example, the legal father can ...

On April 17, 2013, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its opinion in Missouri v. McNeely, a case dealing with the question of whether police officers need warrants before taking blood samples from those suspected of driving under the influence who refuse to submit to chemical tests. The Court held that there is no automatic exemption from the Fourth Amendment's warrant requirement when police are seeking blood samples from DUI suspects.

Federal agency issues new distracted driving guidelines for auto makers
2013-05-09
One of the more common forms of distractions for drivers comes from devices in vehicles. People take their eyes off the road while driving to tune radios, adjust temperature controls, and consult g.p.s. devices. As technology advances, the number of electronics available in automobiles grows, making distracted driving even more of a problem. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued new guidelines for auto manufacturers in April 2013 to help them make vehicles that reduce driver distraction.

New employment discrimination claims against Wal-Mart
2013-05-09
In 2011 the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling in Dukes v. Wal-Mart, holding that a lower court had improperly certified a class in an employment class action suit against Wal-Mart. The Court said that the proposed class, which encompassed 1.5 million women nationwide who had worked for Wal-Mart since 1988, was too large to meet the standards for a class action suit. After the court's ruling, the plaintiffs have filed new claims in federal courts in various states, including Florida, trying to overcome some of the obstacles the first case met.

NY school liability for student injury tied to control over event
2013-05-09
Whether a New York school district is responsible for a student getting hurt at a school-related function depends on how much control the district has over the activity, says a recent appeals court opinion. If the school has enough control over what is happening at the event that it could monitor and stop negligent activities or dangerous behavior that could cause an accident or injury, then it may be liable if it does not fulfill its duty to prevent negligent harm when someone is injured as a result.

Divorce in Florida: Avoid common missteps
2013-05-09
With almost one in two marriages ending in divorce, legal and financial experts are beginning to notice some common and costly mistakes. Missteps include: not seeking the right professional assistance during the divorce process, a focus on finalizing the divorce as soon as possible and not properly reviewing and adjust estate plans after the divorce is finalized.
It may seem counterintuitive, but those who hire professionals to help with a divorce can actually save money. The two professionals most likely to benefit those going through a divorce are legal and professional ...
Three red flags that a spouse may be hiding assets during divorce
2013-05-09
Even in the bitterest divorce, few people would like to believe that their spouse would conceal assets from them in order to affect the outcome of a property settlement, alimony or child support order. Unfortunately, however, asset concealment during divorce occurs more often than many people are aware. Therefore, it is important for divorcing spouses to be on the lookout for potential warning signs that a spouse may be hiding assets.

2013-05-09
Social Security disability benefits may be available to people who are not able to work because of a disability. The process of applying for and eventually receiving benefits can take a long time, and if one's application is initially denied -- which happens often -- the appeals process can take an average of 373 days, according to the Associated Press. Some people with great need for disability benefits may qualify for expedited benefits through the Compassionate Allowances program, however, which grants benefits more quickly to individuals with certain conditions.

Refusing a DUI breath test can have harsh consequences in Illinois
2013-05-09
While most Illinois motorists are aware that the penalties for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) are quite severe in the Land of Lincoln, many may be surprised to discover that the mere act of refusing to take a breath test if arrested for a DUI in Illinois has severe consequences all its own.
This particular notion - that Illinois drivers can face penalties for refusing to submit to a breath test - is rooted in Illinois' implied consent law. Specifically, this law states that drivers are "deemed" to have given consent to be tested for alcohol or ...
